R56S windshield wash

hi,
i just bought a 2007 MCS. i cant wash my windshield.
the rear wash works but nothing comes out the jets in the front when i try to wash the windshield. im not even sure if im doing it correctly.

so a couple questions;
1. how do i activate windshield wash in my mini?
2. what could be wrong? what should i look for?
3. how could one work and not the other? is there 2 reservoirs? 2 pumps?

TIA

To activate all you need to do is pull the windshield wiper stalk towards you. And as you know, twist the stalk end to activate the rear.

I have had a couple vehicles where the jets would get clogged with dirt, so you can always take a safety pin and clear out the jets on the hood.

There is one reservoir with two pumps (i think) so the best way to figure out if it is a blockage or a leak is to listen for the pump. You should be able to hear it loud and clear by having your door or window open and trying to activate the windshield washer. Should be a humming coming from the front of the vehicle.

If you hear it running but nothing coming out, check under the hood to make sure there isn't a leak and its just washing your engine compartment, and check that the hoses are connected to the pump and to the reservoir.

If you don't hear it pump, then check the electrical connections on the pump. If that doesn't fix it then maybe see about getting a new pump.

Good luck!

THANK YOU!
Never even thought to pull the stick towards me! Everything works! Problem solved.

Kinda OT, do we have the same reservoir for the front and rear washers? Sorry, it's the first hatchback I've ever owned and in California I forgot the last time I had to use windshield wipers.

One reservoir in the front left. Used for the front windshield and if you have Xenon for the headlight washers also.
