Mirror Rattle

When I close my doors the there is a rattle from the mirror housing. It happens on both sides. The housing is securely fastened to the door, it seems to be either the joint where the two piece housing comes together or something inside. anyone else notice this on their car?

OMG I started reading the link to the thread and realized it was my thread, I don't remember any of it. It's vaguely familiar, my memory must be fading. I want you to use my thread and information for your DIY guides, you have my full permission. I'm absolutely positive there must be other's with this same problem with their mirrors and probably just haven't had the time to troubleshoot it.

If my other mirror started to rattle I still wouldn't have remembered this thread of mine or how to fix it.

That's too funny! Yes, it's a great thread. I actually like that idea and would love to use it for our tech articles. Let me pass this along to our tech guy. Can you PM me your contact info? i.e. email address possibly? Is the mirror still holding up since you did that fix?

It's holding up so well the memory of fixing it is gone. I bought the MCS in March of 2013, 2+ years of ownership. You know what they say, it's you short term memory that goes first.

Oh yeah, you can find some useful sticky tape at hobby shops for RC stuff, different thicknesses and single or double sided sticky tape.

PM sent.

I'm going to try and remove the mirror cover again, think I remember having to pull the cover strait out while using a flat head screwdriver to unclip each clip insert. Perhaps I can take some picture to show how well its held up.

That is what I suspected, I experimented by applying some lubricant around the seam and it softened the noise so I was pretty sure I was on the right track.
Now then, how do you take mirror apart?

Thank You

What a great forum. Caps popped right off, taped the tabs and re-installed caps. Seems better going around the block, bumpier road later.

Now, has anyone had their convenience access button on the door handle go farther in?
:-)
