License Plate Bulb Malfunction!

I installed LED bulbs and have had no problem. Suddenly my mini is now insisting that my bulbs are malfunctioning when they're both still working perfectly. Is there a reset for this annoying code? Any help is appreciated!

License Plate Bulb Malfunction!

The LEDs can be finicky. When I installed mine I would periodically get the bulb error but not always.

I did end up using NCS Expert to reprogram the FRM module computer so it would not perform the bulb check.

What bulb is causing the error? Are you sure it is the license plate bulbs?

Thank you for responding. And it says, "license plate bulb malfunction." The bulbs are fine I just don't wanna read it every time on my screen for 30 seconds after I start my car lol

Why don't you just go back to the old bulbs??

No more computer glitch's-- How often do license plate bulbs burn out?

Good luck

Likewise, I came across with a CC-ID 371 - license plate bulb issue. Did the FRM check and there are 2 options to choose from. I may have selected the wrong option to deactivate the voltage check. Will do the update later and report back after the game.

Go Warriors?

Which LED bulbs did you buy? If you don't program out the warning, you need to use so-called "Canbus" LED bulbs that have an integrated resistor to simulate the electrical load of a standard bulb.

I always thought that the LED lights can cause your fool-well module to go bad, I had an alarm cause some circuits go bad drawing more current.

LED lights draw far less current than standard filament bulbs. LEDs draw so little current that they can make the footwell module think the bulb is burned out. That's the reason for "canbus" LED bulbs.

Why do they have such large heat sinks on them?

They should be Canbus and have heatsink ? Like our Ziza ones.

Also check the contacts on the prongs , sometimes the rear lens pops off or get water under there and then the connection is intermediate.

A "Canbus" LED simulates a standard bulb by using a resistor to draw as much power as a standard bulb. When drawing that power, the resistor will also get as hot as a standard bulb. The heat sink is to dissipate the heat, which would otherwise burn out the LED.

"Canbus" LEDs effectively defeat two advantages of LED technology: low power and low temperature. They are a hack workaround and the proper solution is to reprogram the car so that it recognizes LED's instead of expecting standard bulbs to be in the circuit.
