Recommend a tire for my JCW?

Hello Everyone -

I have a 2012 MINI Cooper JCW with Continental Contisport Contact 3 SSR 205/45 R17. I use my MINI primarily for everyday driving to and from work and I enjoy spirited driving at times, though not too often. I don't go to the track, I may go to one Auto-X event a year if I could find some locally (I'm in Miami so not too much of a MINI scene down here).

My primary goal is to transition away from Run-flats. I would like a Tire that is reliable, extremely comfortable and considers performance as well. I know that's all too hard to mix, but I figured the experts here at NAM can point me in the right direction.

Thank you all for the replies!

I'll look into them, they're not too pricey, either! Thank you.

Also, it's nice to see my favorite parts website respond on a forum I frequent. You guys saved me a few hundred $$$ when my Suction Pipe on my A/C broke!

I think the Continental Extreme Contact DW is a great tire for the money, have used them on my M3 just ordered a set for my MINI.

Conti DW or Michelin PSS would be the top two choices for your needs in 205/45/17.
Don't think you could go wrong with either one.
The PSS is better overall, but a bit pricier.

What do you mean? With ER back there's lots of autocross around here. I did one on Sunday in Sunrise, there's another Thursday in Palm Beach and another this weekend in Ft. Myers.

I'd say save a bit of money and go Federal 595

I have these right now. Nice until you try to autocross them. Spongy sidewalls and average grip.

just put these on my 2007 MCS two weeks back along with JCW challenge Rims. I really like the ride, and the price was right.

Have them on both challenge wheels and R91 wheels . Good tire. Auto X some times,. no too bad for high performance summer tire. But if you want to autocross all the time , you will need stickies.

Michelin Pilot Super Sport's....all the way, they really do have it all. Best performance, best comfort, and great wear characteristics....pricey end of things but worth it
