R52 JCW Down on power?

Hey guys, wanted to make a separate thread from my other thread just to make it easy for others searching later.

I have an '06 R52 that I purchased last month. I got on the phone with the dealer that sold the car, maintained, and installed the JCW tuning kit and confirmed the tuning kit included ECM tuning, head, Supercharger and pulley, exhaust, and some other goodies. Supposed to balance out around 210hp. (crank I'm assuming) I had a friend with an R53 drive it and agreed the S/C is way louder then the stock R53, but feels exactly like the R53 he has with just a 15% pulley and CAI.

I took it to a friend and had him dyno it, and only made 170HP on a second pull. I'm new to boost and EFI (I only ever played with carbs) but I'm no EFI noob. I don't have any fault codes, and it runs fine, just surprises me that the car's got a 210HP tuning kit making 170 at the wheels. I've found that the bypass valves stick often, wondering if this is something that might be causing me to loose boost at the top end? Or if you guys might have a suggestion for me.

Top is my Mini, lower is a BRZ. I beat it by 1HP and didn't have to buy them lunch. Score.

210 to the crank....that's around 170 to the wheels on an honest dyno....pretty much right from my experience at the dyno when mine was tuned....
Bigger injector and a tune might get you to about 210 or so to the wheels...
All depends on the health if the motor....
Guess the bypass valve might not be sealing 100% they can stick too...or the sc boots might be leaking a bit, or compression is weak....but 170 to the wheels is pretty much what these cars do....

No, that's a little low for the MINI drivetrain. We calculate a 12% drivetrain loss on chassis dynos. You should be closer to 185--particularly on a Dynojet which are notorious for optimistic un-corrected numbers.

Thanks for the feedback guys. 170 has got to be pretty low for this turd. I don't think compression is an issue, but I have a compression and leakdown tester.

I pulled the intercooler cover off today and found one of the couplers pretty beat up, so I ordered a new Alta set. I used the Torque Pro app and read about 13PSI when running it out at full throttle. Not bad.

Looking at the cracks in your IC boot you should replace. But they don't actually look like they are leaking as there is no oil or residue around the cracks.
FYI the alta boots fit like crap so be prepared to swear trying to get them on. We've been using the DDMworks boots and have them fitting well.

I've dyno tested complete stock perfect running R53 JCW cars and seen them only at 172whp. So that is why your 170 doesn't surprise me.
