Fan after shutoff.

Im so used to the fan running on after shutoff, especially after parking at work in the underground garage!! Everyone could hear it!!!

For the last few days, I have not heard it?
Is there a fan issue with 2nd gen N18s???

I'm in SoCal and lately my fan hasn't been running except for when I was in a drive-through on Monday for 15 minutes during the day, it got slightly past 80F. Usually with all the traffic lights to and from work by the time I get home EGT's are under 1000F because of prolonged idle at red lights. It's cold now, had to close windows because my feet are cold!

Drive your car hard for at least 10 min., where the engine temp should be at least 190 degrees, and if the fan still doesn't cut on after shutdown then you may have a problem.

Yes, when its hot outside or running the A/c allot the fan will run a minute or two after. But if its does it when its cooler outside and no a/c on, then its an issues. Some people on the N18 had a TSB update for the thermostat sensor itself. MINI can run the Vin to see if you fall under it , think it was 2012 N14 JCW and some N18 2011's.

I checked with Dash Commander.
The High speed fan kicks on at 219F, shuts off at 208F.

But shuts off with ignition. Ill wait for higher ambient temps, but I swear the fan always ran on for at least 30 seconds.

I do hear a quiet "pump" motor sound for a minute after shut off, is that the coolant pump for the Turbo?

Yea, the buzzing / pump noise from the front near the transmission is the aux water pump. Does that everytime for about 1-2 minutes after shut down.

30 sec fan run is not that long. When its runs really long, that's low coolant or the thermostat sensor .

It's raining now here in SoCal but once the weather gets hotter you'll get the fan going at stop lights, in traffic and especially with the AC on!

Do you hear the high fan or the low fan? my old R50's fan would run after, but it turned out my low speed fan was shot...
