Code P2885 really pi$$ing me off
I have a 2009 Cooper S with many mods and a tune since around 15K miles (now at 75K miles) and over the last year or two I have been getting the P2885 code. It has recently got to the point that I can't even spool the turbo without the car going into limp mode and throwing the P2885. Early on I really had to be gunning it to throw the code so over time something has been progressively getting worse.
I have a rebuilt turbo via G-pop. I had the vacuum pump and pipes recently replaced by the dealer, who also smoke tested for boost leaks and found nothing.
My mods include alta CAI, tubing and intercooler, wmw exhaust manifold, JCW exhaust, RMW tune, OCC and some other minor stuff.
Can anyone give me an idea of what the F might be going on with my car?
I am at the point where I don't want to drive it anymore which is sad as hell. I don't want to sell it either but I am at the end of my rope.

could be a leaking/broken wastegate valve or the line going to it. the valve runs off vacuum so a leak check would not identify a crack in the line. could also be a torn diaphragm in the blow off valve itself or a sticking valve. take it off and inspect it/clean it and try it again. could just be gummed up with oil from the intake.

Thanks, Cerenkov. That was an interesting read, if a little tough to follow.
I have been suspecting the HPFP for some time now. Wondering if there is a way to get the dealer to replace given my car is in the 2007-2009 model years where the HPFP's were causing issues.
I put my stock BOV back on today after taking my Alta BOV off. All the vacuum lines I can see and touch seem fine.
I may check the waste gate lines next. I had the turbo rebuilt and they looked at the wastage itself as part of that so I am assuming that is fine.

Your '09 should be covered on the HPFP out to 100k. Mine failed recently and I was advised my Jan '10-build JCW missed the cut-off for warranty coverage by a month or two (the literature on it covers all '07-'09 models). Even 100% out-of-pocket it was only $600, which is not bad for these cars.
FWIW, mine drove fine and did not throw any codes while the pump was failing but had a helluva hard time starting and idling for the first minute or two.
