got the mod itch. going to get 15% pulley.

I have a couple questions about the pulleys and anything I should consider replacing/upgrade while installing the pulley. My mcs is 06 with 91k miles, and manual trans.
Is there much differences between the Alta and way motor works pulleys?

I'd get the pulley kit from WMW. It includes the proper belt and colder plugs. Not sure if Alta includes those or if you have to purchase on the side. Why not just get it all at once, and know you're getting the right stuff?

In reality, most of the big names are "Tried and True". Depending upon your flavor though, the only big decision is going to be what reduction you go with. 15's are standard... but a lot of people go 17. Because of this, I went 16% and I like it. I digress...

They're both similar in quality and function. It's totally worth it though... at your mileage you may want to consider replacing the tensioner and make sure you get a good belt too.

Difference is how they bolt up and assemble to the SC.

The WMW version is like the Alta Generation 1 pulley I have, so far no problems to report.

Will need a new ( smaller ) belt and new spark plugs.

Would also consider adding ( at minimum) a K&N air filter panel for the air box.

% reduction will the the same. the waymotor works is a single piece, whereas the alta is a two piece. essentially the same function they get pressed on. then you need a smaller belt, and want 1 step colder plugs or the jcw plugs, they are the same thing.

I just had a WMW 17% pulley put on a brand new OEM supercharger. I had the 11% JCW pulley on my R53. I added the smaller belt, colder plugs and 380 injectors. I expected a HUGE difference but did not get it. HOWEVER, what I did get was much smoother and linear power. I surprised myself when I accelerated away from a stop light after I picked up the car. I expected to look down at my speedometer and see 70 MPH. WHAT I SAW WAS 90! I expected the power to sit me back in my seat, but what I got was smooth, across the board power.
If you are going from an S pulley to a 15% pulley I think you will be very happy. I would do mine in a heart beat again.
I know that's not what you asked but I thought you might like to know what to expect.

Pretty sure my wmw pulley was two pieces...
You can get an alta package I believe from motoring weeks for a fair price. They are basically the same other than where the tightening screws are.

Our pulley is far different from the new style of the Alta. We don't like the Alta version and don't want to install them.
First all ours is 100% stainless on bolt parts so everything expands at the same rate, doesn't corrode, and won't wear like the aluminum.
Then the way their center hub mounts with the screws on one side makes the pulley unbalanced. We have a couple in the shop we use for show and tell as you can lay one on a level counter and watch it flywheel back and forth. Short term this has little to no effect, but long term that slight imbalance may damage the supercharger bearings or more.
Plus it's more expensive on top of all that.
We've installed almost 600 pulleys and with all the experience of doing them our design was a combo of all the things we wanted. 100% stainless, 4 mounting holes, a center hole to reduce weight and also allow you to see the supercharger shaft bottom out in the pulley to insure proper install. Then we cut the extra holes in the face to save weight and also threaded two of them to make removal easy later. And finally we put a slight ridge on the front and rear of the belt groove to hold the belt in place during belt change and prevent belt walk if you have a tensioner or crank pulley issue.

Just about every pulley, save for the Alta, is the same design, Helix, WMW, DT, Craven, because they are all manufactured by Craven--just different names on them. Alta changed their design--perhaps to be different--which works fine once it's installed, but it's a PITA to install it. It was the answer to a question that was never asked.

I have a 17% WMW pulley.....it's good to go! Unless you are going to track your car...I would do the 17% instead of the 15% pulley

Well, i got the Alta because I found it on eBay and it came with the tool, plugs and belt for $350. I couldnt find any other kit from another major brand that would ship to Australia. Should I return it and keep looking? Is it still a good kit? I see alot of signatures with people who have this kit.

What's the feedback from folks who have this kit?
