My Project: Remote Starter

In Quebec it can be cold......very cold. So i decided to install a remote car starter in my 2013 Countryman. I found out a company in Quebec who makes some interfaces for Mini and BMW. So i bought a remote car starter (Python 5706) a Fortin EVO-ALL (can bus interface) and INT-BMW2 ( push-to-start interface). I will let you know how goes the installation...

Hi, after some long hours on the net looking for informations about the wiring of my countryman i think i'm ready to install my devices. There are some information that came with my Fortin Can-bus interface but the wire color in my CM are not the same. I will start the installation this week end.

Interesting project.

I wish MINI had carried over the ability to run the engine without the key inserted and the doors locked that the R56 had - very handy for defrosting duties.

Yes i did install the Can bus interface. I found out that not all the items were working. i was able to lock and unlock the doors, i can open the trunk. The system will tell me if the doors and trunk are open. But the status of the hood, the status of the hand brake and the status of the brake pedal were not available. I did install the INT-BMW2 too. I will hook up the remote starter next week end.

Percymon, look for a topic about running the r60 without a key. I remember reading something about a valet option!!!!

I can do that in my 2011 Countryman S Manual..

With the car running, I can turn it off (keeping the clutch pressed), take the key out, then start it again (without the key in the socket), get out, close the door. Viola!

Not in my '14 SDA4 manual it doesn't , yet the GFs R56 Justa it works just fine (even able to lock the car while its warming up to save some tea leaf driving away in it!)

I can as well with my '14 all4 S auto...minus the clutch procedure.

Hi. i have a manual tranny. i did look for the idatalink. But it is for automatic transmission and it is very expensive. My solution cost a lot less, but it is more work , i agree. I don't have comfort access

It works...I had to find the tach signal in the motor bay. The Fortin canbus interface tach out didn't work or wasn't recognize by the remote starter. Good timing, we had some cold weather this week (-20 C to -25C in the morning)
