2009 cooper water leak

My Mini is leaking water so i replaced thermostat housing & its still leaking. The water is coming down the back of the motor right over the starter. Since the starter is installed i cant see where its coming from. Any idea? Has anyone ever had the hose under the intake fail? How hard is it to remove the intake to take a look? Thanks

Sounds like the connection to the water pipe is loose, no gasket, or not clipped in or your not flush on the head, 11537534521 , 11537589713, and 11537548652

Review this thread and the DIY as sounds like you missed something.

You can loosen the intake and pull back so you can see the water feed line to the water pump. My line was cracked right at the connecting point into the water pump. Crazy was a bear to get at but can be done. Patience. Beer..
and more beer...Good luck.

Yes Patience and some sort of drink to calm the nerves. Don't drink to much you might not finish

The tube that goes from the water pump to thermostat housing must be cracked. What is involved to replace this? Do you need to remove the intake & does this tube simply just push into the back of the water pump or is there something else holding it in the pump? Thanks

That is the water pipe 11537589713. Could be the tube or the o-ring. To remove it, there is a clip that holds it (#3) onto the thermostat housing that will need to be removed, and for the water pump side you should be able to just pull it off. If it's stuck, work it off or use something carefully to pry it if it's stuck. From what I've seen it's kind of a bit of a pain to remove as you don't have much room to work with, but to get the new one on it should be easier than the removal.

Its linked above in the DIY. : You will have to take the thermostat off and then get and undo the pipe , its a bi of work because its sandwiched between the back of the water pump ( does not move ) and the thermostat houing ( which you can remove and unclip. Set under the intake manifold so its in a tight spot.

Thanks
