Spotify and Mini Connected

This afternoon on my way home from work I fired up Spotify while connected via USB. Lo and behold, the Mini logo appeared on the screen under the Spotify logo. I pressed the media button and saw the Spotify icon listed on the display. I selected it and was able to control the app. Titles and album art was displayed correctly. Kind of an unofficial Mini app. By the way, I'm not a paid subscriber. I use the free option.

Missing from your comment is that you use an iPhone.

This works with iOS, not with Android

What do you get with the free version?

I love Spotify but now that it's part of mini connected I can't use any other app at the same time (i.e. Waze). Mini connected shuts down Spotify if I start another app. Is there a way around this?

If you just use Bluetooth you can still use your phone, but you shouldn't text and drive. It's probably set up like that for a reason..

I'm too busy enjoying the car (it's manual), to be texting! I like to use waze for navigation sometimes.

Does anyone feel that when using the spotify via mini connected and while using the USB cable to iPhone the music volume is a lot lower than over Bluetooth? Any idea on how to turn it up?

The artwork is not showing up when I play music from Spotify either via the Mini Connected or bluetooth. Any advice? I'm using iPhone 6.

There is an update that fixes this. You can download it at the BMW connected site. Takes 2 minutes. All you need is a thumb drive formatted to FAT 32.

Well got my car back from the shop. They couldn't get the software to update and I tried and downloaded the software myself and install it also. Will not work said no update available. So no fix for me which pisses me off because my GoPro app does the same will work for a few seconds then the screen freezes just like the Spotify and pandora app does. Also the service dept. didn't list it on the repair bill I'm guessing if not listed there is no proof that they can't fix it.

Mine does the same thing with Pandora. I'd estimate the volume drops by maybe 10-15%.

Is there any way to delete Spotify from Mini Connected? I kind of hate it and would like to simply use the iPhone for selecting tracks.
