Meth Kits

Recently acquired a basic water/meth kit from another NAM member. Everything I have read paints these things as incredible systems that can really do a lot for your mini, but my initial inclination is to use it primarily when I want to get some extra performance for a little joy ridding... but I have some questions:

Does you need to get the ECU tuned to safely use a meth kit, or does the stock ECU have enough "brains" to see the lower intake temperatures and richer air/fuel mix and adjust fuel and timing to safely manage?

Second: What kind of results have people seen with different water/meth mix percentages? Seems like 50/50 and 75/25 water-to-meth are the most common mixes...

Thanks again for helping a new member out

assuming it's an Aquamist, there's lots of threads on it (both the purchasing and installation/use)

And others as well:

But to answer your questions (I don't have a system)

You can deploy a safe mix that does not require a tune. I don't know the mix but it's found in those links above

under full throttle, the car sees the intake parameters and uses a full throttle map. so the extra octane from the meth wont make a difference since the ECU cannot go through data fast enough to make a difference, but it can see the lowered intake and adjust accordingly

your mostly going to be using it for the cooling effects if your not going to be tuned for it.

more water, more cooling effect. when meth phase changes, it requires less energy than water
