Dme issue
Has anyone in this forum had a issue with with there DME? A few weeks ago about 4 minutes after leaving work on my drive home my car goes into limp mode, I pulled over and plugged in my access port to see what's up. A must of had 10 codes came up, a few had to do with the map sensor. I took it to my trusty mini shop and they came back to me that it's the DME, the owner is a good friend of mine so I don't think he would bs me. He also said it's a common issue with BMW's, just wondering if anyone else has had this issue before. I'm about to fix and get rid of this car

Not sure but we did fine a blown fuse that fixed about 5-6 codes that had to do with the map sensor, now there's a few old codes left. I'll post what they are tomorrow
Wicking is not uncommon for todays ECM vehicles. My experience was with Mercedes and Bentley. Any control unit connected to a sensor with oil one side can suffer this effect if the sensor starts to leak into the plug.
Can you tell what sensor failed or what the source of the oil was; trans or engine?

Yes. Top photo solenoid valve with exterior wire full of oil. Also valve was very loose and parts could be spun easy. Bottom photo is MINI's fix wire I did not use. My car is an early 2013 and they released a updated valve 3 months after my build date.

Can you describe this and does it do it on the stock map?
It might not be a true recall but it maybe a TSB or a campaign where MINI will cover the cost IF you ask or complain enough.
I've seen reports of this problem on this forum but the cars might have still been under warranty.
It might be worth looking into MINI could issue you a refund or partial refund.
