Installing a Davies Craig Electric Water Pump EWP80

I know there are a couple of thread on here about people installing the Davies Craig Electric Water Pump EWP80, but they are all sidetracked and off-topic in places. I have a few specific questions I need answered.

1) Where is the best place to attach the EWP80?
2) What is the best method to attach it?
3) Can I simply remove the the existing mechanical pump and leave the PTO drive cover in place?

I've already got the pump. I'm fabricating the intake next week. I want everything to be ready so I can tell my mechanic what exactly needs to be done. The less he has to figure out the cheaper it's going to be for me. (I'm halfway contemplating doing it myself, but I'm not 100% confident working on it).

I just need simple answers, not alternative ideas, or discussions about a better water pump, etc...

Thanks.

This will be my guide when that time comes:

Ask Raven Mocker if you need to clarify some details.

I've been looking at the thread a lot, and it's derailed so many times it's not very clear on exactly where the WP is attached, how it's attached and whether or not the PTO can be left as-is.

Also there's mention of a second part the needs fabricated but it's only vaguely mentioned once.

No reason why you can't leave the PTO on. This thing isn't sold as a bolt on kit so there needs to be some major investigation & fabrication. Raven Mocker just let the hoses hold the pump in place, I believe. I'm not sure if he was able to re-route the pump under the charger. You can check the Sprintex install manual for the pump connection.

Thanks. Hopefully using the hoses to hold it in place should do the trick. I believe he used the stock hoses correct?

Stock should work if they're still good.

While I will never go this route. I wonder why someone has not made a nice billet bracket that bolts to the existing waterpump ears to mount the electric pump i.e. something that looks OEM

Prototype Bracket for EWP80 replacing OEM mechanical water pump R53

I have designed and built a prototype input and output adapter to install the davis craig EWP80 electric water pump to the R53 supercharger. I used the input and output port parts from the OEM mechanical water pump. The output port needs two plates welded to it. The final assembly takes no additional real estate. It fits in exactly the same place as the PTO and OEM mechanical water pump. There is no chewing gum -- duct tape -- hanging off in space --- assembly that others have made. The PTO has to be removed (this has no effect on the supercharger lubrication because those bearings are internally greased and verified with supercharger rebuilders). I bolted my home made bracket to the supercharger in the same place as the PTO. Then I mount the EWP80 to the bracket. The output port from the EWP80 slides into to the block the same way and location the mechanical Water Pump used to be installed (use a new "O" ring). The input port attaches the two water hoses directly to the EWP80 the same place and configuration as the original. I manufactured this myself using a band saw and belt sander to cut up the original mechanical water pump. I do not have a TIG welder so I paid a welder $50 to weld two plates to the output port. I made a second set of the prototype parts and templates to share with other SERIOUS builders. This was a very long and tedious process of about 100 hours of fitting and refining. I have photos and templates to share and want no compensation for the design. I a;ways recommend that a mechanic should NOT be used or consulted because you know more about your own project and care than they will. But then again, I do all of my own wrenching and designing. I also designed and manufactured an automatic transmission oil cooler replacement module for an external automatic transmission oil cooler radiator. The module also serves as an easy to use automatic transmission oil changer filling system. If you care for more information about either project, please PM and email me and I can send photos of the finished prototype of the water pump bracket or the automatic transmission oil cooler module. I am very busy with two engine rebuilds and two project vehicles and do not have the time or energy to post photos on this forum at this time, mostly because i do not know how to attach them to a post. I have many stories to share about these two engine build and modification projects but no time. p.s. Everything that I have regarding modifications to the Gen 1, I am willing to share with photos to serious wrenchers/builders. Way knows about my work and I have offered it to him for free, in case he cares to market them himself. Safe travels.

Has anyone else tried this? Is it possible to install an inline electric water pump without removing the supercharger or messing with the existing water pump? Mine is on its way to failing.

WTMF Do you still have the prototype bracket information for the EWP80 pump? I am currently in the process of replacing my water pump and would love some insight or information on this procedure.

Thanks

I have my 06 taken apart and my PTO gears and bearings are destroyed!! I would very much appreciate any help with conversion to an electric pump. I'm new here and I know the formentioned info on the fabrications would help me greatly but I don't know how to get that info. Any help at all is appreciated. Thanks
