R56 S AT Exhaust Pop Question

Hello guys,

I recently added an Alta FMIC, a GTT Stealth Cat, a fJCW exhaust system and an Evolve tune.

I asked them before getting the tune, if I will get my burbles back or not; and it was the only reason why I got the tune.

But here's the issue, I haven't got them back.

Do any of the AT owners have pops and burbles or you just can't get them on AT.

*AT : Automatic Transmission.

Thanks for the replies.

Cheers.

Have you tried sports mode. Mines a Euro and in sports mode changing down at high rpm it pops and burble is constant no matter what mode. I've read it was removed for the American market if you search you'll find the threads disscuing lack of burble and pop.

If you have an N14 I don't think you can get the pop and burble, even with a tune. N18 should have it in sport mode.

I tried everything, sport mode, turning the DSC off etc., nothing worked.

Yes it is a N14.

I believe its really hit and miss. I have a '07 MCS with several mods (see Sig) and I do get pop and burble. With my Tune sport mode only affects the power steering (throttle has its own tune) so the engine is running the same either way. In fact, last night while driving under a bridge to a highway on-ramp I did 3-4 upshift and there was a very nice loud pop. So I know it can happen. It just may require the right combo of parts. I use Shell V-Power 93 octane (10% ethanol in Iowa) so that might contribute as well. I also believe atmospheric conditions contribute. I've read where people noticed when driving from high altitude to low altitude notice a difference as well. Elevation here is 810ft. Not sure how that compares to Istanbul/Turkey.

I think one of the keys is a catless downpipe.

I hear it faintly on my N14 with no second cat, but with a catless dp, it would be more pronounced.

Will not be the same as the N18s defined pop and burble in sport mode though as that is purposefully injected fuel just to create that effect.

The problem is in the programming a remap only changes load based targets to achieve so if it didn't do it before a remap it won't after.

What year is your car I've read the pops were removed from cars of a certain manufacture year.

Who told you you'd get your pops back Evolve or the retailer on this site.

My car is 07. My pops were gone after it went to the dealer to get the ecu updated.

Imran from Evolve said on an e-mail that they can bring back the pops and burbles. They advertised this feature on some other forums as well.

I think you should have specified that that's what you wanted from you tune when you got it.

Try dropping Imran an email and ask him if its possible for him send you an updated map with the gurgle and pops.

"We did what we do on other cars and the pops and bangs come back.

I'm not sure there is anything else we can do. "

was the answer.

Ok this is going to sound like a silly question but how do you drive?

If I want pops dive in sports mode keep the revs high and be brutal with the throttle. The other day I was in sports mode hard deceleration from 140kmh and as it changed down gears it pop each time.

I have a theory, have you had your intake valves cleaned? After installing W/M the car made a lot more pops and after my tune even more.

What stage remap do you have, I assume with your JCW exhaust you only have the cat in the downpipe. You could try a sports cat but if they haven't coded out the CEL for it in your tune your going to be starring at CEL light, constantly deleting it or pay extra for an additional tune to remove the CEL.

Mostly I drive on relaxed mode. But when I tried to get the car to pop I was aggressive enough I believe

I have the GTT stealth cat mod, and the stage 3 tune.

I never had my intake valves cleaned. What do you mean by that? Is this a de-coke procedure?

What do you mean by W/M?

Never cleaned? How many miles??? Yes, a carbon cleaning of the valves is generally needed at least by 50k miles.

W/M is water/methanol injection.

And how can you drive these cars relaxed? I drive mine more like an on/off switch

Yes decoke maybe your not getting good flow through the engine to get the unburnt fuel quick enough into the exhaust. But having said that if you were majorly coked up you'd get a CEL.

W/M=water/methanol injection.

2011 MCS has "pop and burble" only in Sport mode. Verified on my stock 2011 MCS 6 speed manual. No Sport=no pops and/or burbles.
