MOAR Hp without a tubro? (2011 Non-s R56)
MOAR Hp without a tubro? (2011 Non-s R56)
After some reasearch...apparently putting a turbo in a Non-S is a bad idea, (they say the engine cant handle it etc) Now wether this is true or not, beats me. (im fairly new to most of this kind of stuff)
Anywho, wHhat all is a good idea to add more power without getting a turbo? Recently got a 2011 MINI (R56) and would like to add whatever I can to it. So far thee is BBS Rims, NM Engineering Coilovers and an upgraded exhaust (person before me put it on so I honestly dont know which kind it is, will find out soon though)
Obviosuly an Intake is a go to choice but any other good suggestions? everyone seems pretty nice on here so far lol.

That is S&CLC's old car. As far as bolt-ons go, that car already has everything.
Here is the mod list for that car: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ml#post3866690
Unless you are the third owner, then I dont know how much it has changed since.
There are obviously more ways to make more power for a N/A car, but it all depends on how much $$$ you are willing to spend. A few to list: lightened crankshaft, forged pistons, cams, increase displacment, etc.

Honestly I don't think you're going to make any more power on it. An intake won't make a noticeable difference at all. You would need things like cams, cylinder head, full exhaust, proper tuning, but I can't think of anyone who makes that for a non-s...
exhaust and intake do not actually increase hp.
they open up the air ways and let the car breath in and out.
this allows the car to rev up and down faster.
but an CAI ans exhaust will be noticeable because the car will respond slightly faster (less delay) and give more pull when taking off.
cams and tune will be a very nice increase that you would notice even at idle.
but only do cams if you have a CAI and exhaust.
.
now for the crazy part ---- more hp is not always the answer. getting the power to the road is important but often forgotten. staged clutch, shift kit, short shifter, final drive gear, differential, and if you have the money a custom trany or custom gear ratios in your trany.

Not correct. Getting more air in means you can burn more fuel, which produces more power. The exhaust helps by getting the "used air" out, which helps get more fresh air in.
It's an old truism, but that doesn't make it false: An engine is an air pump. The more air you can pump, the more power you can make.

haha, yes..."moar" is meant to be "more", just thought it was a funny way of saying it.
