I am also curious about this. I'm coming from a 2010 Cooper S with the JCW tuning kit and wasn't really blown away by the performance in the new Cooper S on my short test drive. I'm sure the fact that I test drove an automatic contributed to my lack of a thrill. No substitute for the control you feel with a manual, I guess.

Nevertheless, I was still overall pleased, and should be taking delivery next Sunday.

i know the new cooper s isn't going to be as fast but just wondering if the new car as a whole will be better. The thing is my 2013 JCW is being replaced because they can't fix my car.. But there are no 2013 left so they want to give me a full load 2014 cooper S. I'm sure there will be more tuning options with this new motor.

I had a 2009 JCW,sold it 2 years ago.
Just got a 2014 Base Cooper for my daughter.
Refinement, quality of materials and ride are in a different league.
Obviously the JCW is faster and sounds better but the F56 is IMO an overall improvement on the previous generation.

What is wrong with your car that they can't fix it?! It's only a 2013! I'm looking at possibly getting a CPO 2013 Cooper S with JCW Tuning Kit, so curious...
