R56 No sound from Aux pump after shutdown.
No sound from Aux pump after shutdown.
I have noticed lately that I no longer hear the auxiliary water pump after I shut the car down. I have been taking it easy for the last few miles of my drive every day just to be safe...but I am a little worried. In the winter months I just assumed it was due to the cold outside temperature but things are warming up now and still nothing. Can anyone give me details on the recall or info on what could be going on?
From what I remember, the recall was for the control board on the pump, not the pump itself. The control board could overheat and self ignite.
All through the winter my aux pump would run, so I would get yours checked out.

I will call the dealer today and see what they can tell me. If worse comes to worse i have a friend who is a tech at a european shop who can check it out. He specializes in bmw and mini and has all the proper software. I will try putting the car through it's paces on the way home tonight and see what happens.
The friend I mentioned works at Eurotechnik in Hendersonville, NC but I will definitely let you all know what I find out.

Ah. I was talking about Euro Motors in Raleigh. Another excellent independent.
I just want to add that I was pretty hard on the car tonight on the last stretch before I got to my house and there is definitely no noise coming from the pump. I shall call Flow Mini tomorrow and check on the recall. My car is out of warranty now so if there is no recall then it will just have to wait until I head to the mountains in May to see the friend I mentioned earlier.
On a side note...the JB+ really transformed this car! 50-100 was insane compared to stock!

Just an update for anyone who is following this thread::: Spring finally came to North Carolina this week and temps have been up to about 80-85 degrees outside. The fan came on full speed when I turned the car off this afternoon and I was running it pretty hard on the way home. I couldn't tell if the pump was on or not but the fan was on for a good 3-4 minutes. Hopefully all is well. The pump is only about $35 online so I may get one anyway just to be sure.
I thought as much. Looks like I will be buying a pump anyway. I spoke to the friend I mentioned and he says he sees them go bad on BMW's all the time so it stands to reason that the Mini part could be prone to fail too. I will be in my hometown where he lives the weekend of MOTD (going to the dragon for 1 day and seeing friends/family the rest) and he says he will diagnose and/or replace it for me. He says as long as I take it easy it should be ok for now.
He did say he wanted to know what the oil temp was getting up to but my SGII doesn't have the latest update and it won't show it. Does anyone know if I can get the car to show oil temp in a hidden menu somewhere?
