How do I know If I Have the Convenience Package?

I just got my wife a 2010 MCS and I was looking through the owner's manual.

The convenience package feature where you can leave the key in your pocket intrigued me.

We tried it with no success, which I suppose means our car doesn't have the convenience package to begin with, but then I wondered to myself whether it may simply not be working.

I tried the VIN decoder and it doesn't mention the 'packages' the car has so that was no help. A search was of no help either.

Is there something visible on the dash or in the car that would let me know if I do have this feature?

Thanks for helping out a noob!

Look for rubber pushbuttons on the outside door handles. If you have the Comfort Access (part of the Convenience Package), you will have pushbuttons which unlock and lock the doors without using a physical key.

Also see if you can start and run the engine without inserting the round key fob in the dashboard slot.

We have the USB port, but I'm not sure about the other stuff. I'll have to check after work tonight. Thanks.

I think you would see the rubber button on the door handle and know if it was there. Also, if you have the key in your pocket now, turn it over and see if it has a removable door for the battery. Non convenience keys are rechargeable through the car and require no battery changes every 2-3 years.

Yeah, I was wondering about the key too. It doesn't have a removable back. I also don't remember seeing any rubber on the door handle except on the back-side where you'd normally squeeze the handle to unlatch it.

I guess that settles it. I don't have that package.
