My Flywheel - not good

The pressure plate looks the same. The car has 23K miles on it. I knew it needed a clutch (the rivets were starting to hit causing a little squeal when I started off), but I was surprised by the rest of the damage. Somebody really smoked this thing. Damn flywheel is a $600 item.

Looks really bad.

I just had my '10 MCS flywheel and pressure plate replaced under warranty at 43k, some minor cracking but mainly heat spots. Previous owner must have rode the clutch. I just paid for clutch part cost.

IMO a poor design or material. I got 95K out of Trans Am with about 3 times the power and I never babied it.

Sorry to hear that. Pretty scary.

Is it a Cooper S or a "Justa" and how many miles were on it when you bought it if I may ask?

Great time to upgrade to a single-mass flywheel and stronger clutch.

And that kept me with the stock setup. Nice change though. The pedal is so easy to operate now. It was a mess before.

We've been seeing more failed so we actually stock the R56 Flywheels now.

May I present to you my clutch and pressure plate. Dint know how to change the clutch myself so i had someone with the correct stuff to do it. He did the clutch, replaced my intercooler, and tidied it up.Went to pick it up and it was weird. i would rev the engine and the re circulation valve was not audible. I have the sandwhich type adapter on it. ended up being a messed up relay in the relay box. just wanted to add some story to it. i also purcased the car with 50k in september. Also my guy was able to get the flywheel cut.
