2010 jcw hardtop extended maintenance

So when I first purchased the car the sales manager told me the extended maintenance plan was an additional 30 some dollars a month and that I could add it at any time before June of 2014 or 100k miles. What he didn't tell me is that this plan would go up to 2100 bucks if I didn't add it the day off purchase so now I'm in a pickle.
The car has roughly 45k miles and is running great but I don't want to drive out for another 10-15k miles and need a clutch replacement that they say will run me about 4000.
Is that plan really worth it in my case or are brakes and clutch much cheaper if I went elsewhere. I plan on keeping the car for many years and just don't want to get blindsided by an expensive clutch job or brakes and rotors.
Anyone know if the emp price is negotiable or should I avoid it entirely.
Thanks in advance

What you are referring to I believe is the Extended Warranty, which is major driveline stuff. From what I gather $2100 is about right. The Extended Maintenance is a different coverage and covers interval oil changes and brake pads. Don't know about clutches; I'm not clear on that point. But it is less and probably not worth the money( Unless it covers clutch replacement). I bought a used car with the balance of both to 100,000 miles, or 6 years. The Warranty spared me $6-7K. I've gotten a couple of oil changes and 2 fronts and a rear brake pad set in 2 years.

This is interesting.....the $2100. is that the extended warranty that also covers the electronics, or just major power train?

I have been quoted by multiple dealers, $3800 for a warranty that extends out to 8 years and 100k miles, inlcuding electronic components....I think mini calls it the "XL" or "XXL" extended warranty plan

$2100 is a great deal in that case..

From what the sa told me the clutch falls under a wear and tear item and is covered along with oil changes and brakes and rotors. The extended warranty covers stuff like the a.c. compressor and stuff that breaks that shouldn't. He told me that I could finance the warranty because it stays with the car but the maintenance plan leaves when I sell it. I had seen some other threads about shopping around at different dealerships but that's not an option for me.

that's correct. If you read the fine print on the Mini site regarding the extended service plan, clutch replacement is covered under that, from a normal wear/tear standpoint.

I checked into that thoroughly before we bought the extended service plan on both our cars.

We try our best to drive them as Minis should be driven, so I'm pretty sure we are going to go through brake pads and rotors a few times.....in our case, I think it will pay for itself.....we are going to do our best anyway :-)

I purchased the car with just shy of 50k and I don't know how the owner before me drove it. I learned to drive a stick on this car so I don't think the clutch will last more than 100k and I'll need brakes in the next few thousand. Would you get the maintenance plan if you were in my situation. Also z06, did they want to charge you 2100 for each vehicle or was it more our less expensive?

if I had to do it over again, I would buy the extended service plan...my clutch started slipping around 40k miles....and of course MINI says not covered under normal warranty.

I went and spoke with the finance guy and managed to have them knock a decent amount off the price due to them forgetting to mention the price goes up if you don't finance it in with the purchase. I have been dealing with the dealership nearly a year and by them trying to make it right that says a lot to me and I'll continue to go there based on that. The New price makes it a no brainer and I will be adding the extended plan.

I just recently purchased a 2014 clubman. I passed on both the extended warranty, and extended maintenance. If you want to get this coverage, I hope you investigated it very well. You have been told clutch replacement is covered? Then make sure you see it in writing. I would verify it, and not just take someone's word for it. Also, are all parts of the clutch covered, in other words, the pressure plate, the flywheel, and the throw out bearing?
When I asked these questions, the finance man could not answer the questions.

On my 2nd MINI now and my first one I bought the extended service plan. I went in and I was due for new brakes and rotors (MINI replaces all rotors, they don't machine them). So the service cost for that visit was half the cost of the service plan, so I opted to just by the service plan then and there. Then 3 months later I needed a full flush and some other things and it paid for itself that first year.

Good to know clutch is covered.

Plus the service plan is transferrable if you ever decide to sell the car.
