Catch can filling up

I put an Alta catch can on my car last year. I have noticed that it fills with water fairly fast.I would say in a thousand miles it is full .I have drained it several times and am amazed at how much water it gets.Do others have have the same experience ?

I installed mine about a 1000 miles ago, and although there is condensation inside, when I open it to drain, there is not enough for anything to come out. Depending on your climate, I'd say it could be normal.

That's all it is.makes me wonder if it's sucking water from an external location.

Water is a byproduct of combustion so if you've got leaky valve stem seals or piston rings you're going to end up up with more in your oil. Part of the function of the PCV is to vent off the water contained in steam to be burned rather than sludge up the engine. I wouldn't be to concerned unless you're burning a lot of oil. Just make sure you do not let the water freeze in the catchcan in such a way that it prevents it from venting.

+1
Catch can is working...and is in a good location...a nice cool one...
Lots of short trips cause it to catch water....e-10 fuel even more.
Nothing is wrong. All is good. Just be sure to Empty it regularly. Failure to empty the water out can result in an engine failure....
