R50/53 Backorder for how long?
Backorder for how long?
So I rear-ended a Santa Fe back on August 12. Thank goodness the airbags didn't go off. Buckled my hood and jacked up some of my front parts (condenser, radiator, etc.) Car's been in the shop ever since. The shop is waiting on a part from Mini since August 21st.
I'm not exactly sure which part it is but it was supposed to be in in mid-September and it still hasn't shown up.
So if any of y'all have connections with Mini or BMW please tell them to make more parts. I really miss driving my car.

BMW, and hence Mini, introduced a new stock control system for their spare parts distribution. Unbelievably, they incorrectly transferred the current stock level from the old system to the new system, or they just plain lost it. As a result it appears they don't actually know what stock they have - the system says it's there, but it ain't on the shelf when they go to pick it up.
It's hard to believe anyone could get something this basic wrong, but it seems they did. As a result, the whole spare parts distribution for BMWs and Minis has gone "sky west and crooked" as an old Nova Scotian taught me to say. FUBAR would be equally appropriate....

My mini got banged up as well. However, I went after used parts and was able to source all the parts I needed locally from local wrecking yards and craigslist. I had to drive 200 mi round trip to pick up a new hood. But heck it was in the box for 180 Bucks. Start calling your local wrecking yards. not every mini gets totaled in the front. some are rear ended, or their engines blow and the owners just donate them. I got a radiator core support for $100. headliner and airbags for 300. My mini was totaled in the eyes of insurance. they gave me $8500. I bought it from them for $1000, and am now driving and repaired for $2000 in parts and paint. other peoples labor is expensive. Seriously, call you local wrecking yards. call all of them their prices are all over the place for the same part.
