I just wanted to add to this post because David (aka Bad4Fun) installed my Mini Fini SportLink and Bike Rack this past weekend. And I cannot #1 tell you how extremely happy I am with the rack itself. It is truly the best option for carrying your bike on the mini, and doesn't mess with the lines and look of the car when you are not carrying your bike. And I must say that I was overwhelmingly pleased with having David do my install. It was an absolutely flawless install, and he took the individual/white gloved touch that my Lil Mo deserves. While he did the install, I was able to take in a 65 mile ride around Napa, and then came back an my rack was all finished and installed. I cannot recommend his work high enough. I know that he has a couple of others that he is doing the install for their sport links next week, and I know you will be pleased. Also, it will undoubtedly be cheaper than getting it done through the dealer to boot. Thanks a million David. I love my link.

But what about the giant pipes in the back? Doesn't it look like you have a two funky additional exhaust pipes or something?

I guess I understand what you are saying.

But a roof rack looks normal to me. it's a very common thing and it is completely removable. i just have little white caps that are hardly noticeable. But i actually like they way it looks when on so i haven't even remove it yet.

It's a neat idea though. I just didn't care for the big pipe fittings in the back. It would be nice to plug them up with a piece of matching grill on the end of the plug.

Glad you like it though. To each his own, right?
BTW, post pics of everything.

Dr.Bob,
Sorry I didn't see your kind feedback until just now..Thank you
very much. Hope to see you in the future at Mini events around
the Bay Area. I'll let you know when other accessories for the
Sport-Link become available.

I got mine installed by Bad4Fun also, he did a great job in taking care in the tear down of the car and installation of the SportsLink. Thanks!! I also got some really great pics of my MINI's rear in parts carefully laid out on his driveway.

Two issues I have with my bike and the Bike Rack, is that the bottom **** that tightens the top tube mount to the rack is too big and my bike doesn't have the clearance needed to get it on the rack... then again my bike has a funky frame and I needed a top-tube adapter to get the 'horizontal bar' to mount it to the rack (which is why I don't have enough clearance, so it's not the Bike Rack's fault). The other gripe is that the mounts on the rack allows for some 'play' adjustments which if you don't tighten really tight can cause your bike to slip/tilt from the weight of the bike's heavier rear until the bolt hits the end of the slot - I might try using a tie-strap to strap the front of the bike to the lower arm to prevent the rear from sagging down.

Kirk,

Thanks for the kind words about the Sport-Link install.

As for your issues hanging the bike, I had a simular problem
however I found that they sloted the tube purposely so you
could angle the hold down to the shape of your frame and by
sliding the bike a bit one way or the other balance the weight.

I have been in contact with Mini-Fini about a few other Sport-Link
accessories, one of which may be a fork mount assembly. If that
comes to pass I'll order one with that attachment and trade you
out of the hanging style. Likely it will be awhile.

David aka Bad4Fun
I still have two ( 2 ) of the orig. 6 still available.
