I understand MINI Connected has support of mirroring the music player on an iPhone. But does it work with an iPad? I have an iPhone 5 and because of the lightning adapter, I cannot use the plugin feature. I do have an iPad 3 that uses the standard dock connector but I'm not sure if plugin or movie player will work on the iPad. I don't have the OEM cable so I will have to order a cable. Anyone tried this?

 

Haven't tried this. But I don't see why it wont work. From my understanding, Mini Connected would support any iOS device running the mini app. I was thinking of getting an iPad mini to leave in the car permanently. And I've read that you can use your iPhone 5 provided you use the Lightning to 30-pin connector and then plug it into your system using the OEM Y-cable.

 

Plug in will not work with iPhone 5 because the lightning connector doesn't support video out.

 

It should support music though right? I don't know why anyone would want video out. Its not like you can watch stuff when the car is moving.

 

The plug-in portion of mini connected requires video out to function. It's not to watch video, it's to mimic the appearance of iPod control on the Mini screen

When I attach my iPod to the car, I get album artwork on the screen. When I connect my iPhone 5, all I get is text. That is due to the lightning connection.

 

Sorry but this is wrong. I have mine connected using the Y cable and the Apple 30 pin to lightning 0.2m lead and everything apart from the plugin works. So I get artwork etc.

 

I second that. I'm using the exact same setup and I get album artwork as well..

 

Third that. Mini Connected and the ipod function all work well with iphone 5. Just need the adapter.
