2013 JCW Headlight Bulb Change

Forgive me if somebody already asked this, I wasn't able to find a thread.

So, I am trying to change the D1S xenon headlight bulbs in my 2013 R56 JCW Hatch.

There are fantastic threads and even videos on how to change these in 07-11 R56es, but when I open up the headlight cover, the way the bulb mounts (or: floats) is different than what our friends at Bentley Publishers (and others) describe.

Any ideas?

I know it's "just a light bulb", but I don't want to rip out the bulb and end up having to replace my bucket.

Thanks!

Just curious to why are you changing them? If the bulb blew on a 2013, I am positive it is under warranty.

I want to test the Osram D1S Silverstar HID bulb that has a cooler temperature than the OE bulb.

The OE bulbs are 4300K, any cooler and they would be yellow. If you mean a bluer light, that's a higher temp like 5000K or 6000K.

The higher the temp, the bluer the light, the less able humans are at using it to see at night. (especially as they age...) And, the lumen putput goes down.

Just saying...

Thank you for the educational material on light temperature, appreciated. Any idea though on how to physically remove the bulb?
