R50/53 A New Beleiver (WIPE NEW)
I just thought that I'd post this up here for everyone to check out. This was after one application of that WIPE NEW stuff that's been on tv like mad for a while now. So anyways, I figured I'd give it a chance on our black trim pieces. I can't believe how good it actually does work guys. In the pic below - I'm just showing the difference in the actual beading that it produces on our trim compared to an untreated trim piece on the opposite side of my car. (Same time of day - same rain - just sun was going down, so the one side looks darker.)

As I said.... Just thought if anyone has ever pondered the thought of using WIPE NEW - it's ★★★★★ for me!!! Great product!! (Don't have long term stories for it yet, but I'll let anyone know if your interested in the future.)
And I know...This should probably be in the detailing 101 section..
(Read down to post #24 for even better pictures)

Curious,.. Does it leave an oily film?? I noticed whatever the dealer used that I got my used r53 from, that though the tires and trim looked nice and black, it was a terrible dirt magnet. I scrubbed all that junk off, and I generally avoid armor all. I think armour all is great, but it seems to need to be maintained by reapplication too frequently for my daily driver. It seems I don't find time to wash/detail more than once a Saturday.
Do you think that stuff you're using will attract dirt? Is it something to apply once and then forget about it for a year?
Let us know if you still like it next month.

Glad it works for you! I'm guessing the water beading may be an oily finish like tire shine and armor all (both of which rub off on clothes, especially light ones like khakis...) but maybe not?
I've actually had GREAT results with Kiwi black shoe dye (WalMart $3-4/bottle, does numerous cars). Lasts many months, doesn't rub off, ages gracefully, brings back the black. Daub on using the attached sponge, apply liberally, wipe excess with paper towel. Wear gloves so you don't end up with black hands. Had GREAT luck with it on floor mats also, where it doesn't leave 'em slippery.

Any more pictures? I've seen a couple reviews that were positive and didn't sound like an infomercial. I'm a user of 1Z for the exterior trim. Leaves it with a nice satin finish and keeps it from fading.
I just walked outside and wiped my jeans against it for you! I have also used multiple products before trying this stuff, and IMHO this is what I'm using from here on. I'm sure that there are many things out there that achieve similar results, but honestly everyone, this stuff works.. hands down!!I'm just impressed! It says on the packaging that it can be used on all sorts of materials, which I haven't tried quite yet, but I will and update this thread.
UPDATE:: I went ahead and applied it to black cover of my rear wiper (yeah I still have one of those!
) and same exact results. Let me run outside today and take a couple better pictures for everyone. And here's the link to the products website Here. Just in case anyones curious. They do sell this at Walmart now too.
Before & After
Hey due to curiosity, Im going to do a before and after shot, with good pictures this time, instead of the crappy ones above!!

It's still in great shape. My lazy **** hasn't taken the time to actually take any pictures. I really want to try this stuff on other areas of the car, interior.. Etc... But like I just said, I'm lazy. Maybe just old. Haha.
So my official one month review:
Still love this stuff, for what I've used it on thus far.
Still haven't tested it on anything "really worn-out" yet. (That's really what I want to try). Stuffs pretty darn expensive (least at wallmart that is) to waste on junk, so I just haven't wasted any yet. I will though.
Other than that guys. It works great for our trim so far. Nothing remotely bad to report here.
I do have probably 4 other brands of the same type of stuff, maybe - just maybe - if I get off my butt, I'll try to do some type of comparison test situation. So maybe you guys can see why I like it so much thus far. I'm no detailor by far - just a normal guy who when I get around to washing the car, hate to see it look like **** the next couple days. Plus 1 of the other 4 products was brought to me from my aunt in FL, who's detailor said was all he used, so maybe I should test out these chemicals to see why I do like the way this stuff works over all the others I've tried before.

Anyways, just washed the car yesterday afternoon, then put the car straight into the garage, so that I could WIPE NEW the rest of the trim pieces the next day that I havent done yet (due to experimental reasons, and lack of time). However the trim that wasn't WIPE NEW'd a month ago, compared to the trim that was, was like night and day. So I finally did the whole car now in this stuff. And it's definitely still a keeper here IMO. Actually bought another bottle today (really need to order it online though Here's the LINK if anyone wants it.) - Not really sure the cheapest place to find it yet.... Treating the trim once in a great while for a lazy man, makes me an even happier man!!!!

I wonder if this is a repackaged version of Mop-N-Glow. Seriously, they have the same instructions ("...use a "WIPE NEW-dedicated-microfiber-rag", and wipe/rub it straight on, let it sit till dry..."), both require drying time, I wonder if it's just a clear water-based acrylic?
On another note, I had a buddy years ago with a "well-loved" Subaru - back when they were square boxes - and the paint had lost its luster. A little Mop-N-Glow and that sucker gleamed. Can't answer the "for how long" question, though...

$20 for 3oz-3.5oz (whatever it is - a Small Bottle) of Mop-N-Glow =
(if that were the case)
Understand, I mean ZERO negative about WipeNew as a product, but if I had, say, an old VW or Volvo that simply needed it's black made blackER, or a Jeep Grand Cherokee with 150xxx miles on it that just needed the grey plastic cladding renewed, I'd absolutely pull out the ol' Mop n Glow and give 'er a shot. I mean, heck, I had such good luck with the Kiwi Black Shoe Dye in that application on my GTI many many moons ago that I've used it on my MINI - but only because I'd proved it to myself on another, older (less valuable) car.
Ya gotta also check the "Dorky Cheapskate mods" thread... already posted about the Kiwi there...

I get ya bud... I follow that "Dorky Cheapskate mods" thread also (lots of good posts)... I mean "zero" negative about WipeNew neither, or any other ideas others have tried... I'm going to have to do a test of this stuff this weekend. I beleive that I have a older bumper or something in my basement that I could use for this. If not, I'll have to run out the local junkyard and pick up a piece. I'll defintiely add the ole Mop-N-Glow to the list now, just for kicks
. (I'd add that Kiwi Black Shoe Dye, but I think thats in a different "league of products").
Ok, so I didn't have the exact time to test all the different products that I wanted to yet (will do soon). However I did manage to do a couple other pieces of my MINI this afternoon. (More prone to be harder to make new again). And have taken detailed picks of before and afters... So right when I get to a computer, because my darn iPhone (NAM) app, is not letting me do exactly what I need it too at this moment. But I think they will show you guys more of what I've been raving about in the thread, a lot clearer - more precise pics. (READ POST #24 for the best pictures I have up, thus far)

Months after a several applications of kiwi, as the car sits and gets rained on, and after a 3 day drive from fl to south Dakota, and another 6 weeks in the weather here, and all my kiwi'd parts still look like factory black!
My uncle got sim mothers back to black. Told him good luck! We put it on our "new" 93 4runner, a week later, back to old and faded :P
