2006 turbo charger question

My 2009 turbo charger had the "diesel" sound when first taking off in hot weather, did not have the car during the winter.

My 2006 S that I purchased last week....does not have any sound at all. I did a VIN check to see if the 2006 S came with a turbocharger, I thought it did when I bought the car.

Can some one enlighten me on the difference in the 2006 and 2009 turbo charger?

Front Emblem 2006 MSC

My front emblem on my 2006 S, is all silver, possibly faded out. When I look with the hood raised, I do not see any prongs on the inside of hood where this emblem is secured nor any holes.

The replacement front emblems I see have two prongs as if it will be secured someway.

My emblem from all indications looks like it is glued to the surface.

So for the 2006, mfg date Oct206, do I need to buy the whole emblem with the 2 prongs or should I be looking for a replacement that is a decal?

Thanks for your help. I have tried finding this answer in search before asking here.

2006 has a supercharger, not a turbocharger.

Get your MINI in to a dealer as this is the timing chain tensioner issue that plaques most MINI's from 2007-2009.

2002-2006 hardtops and convertibles til 2008 were supercharged.

2007 hardtops changed to turbocharged.

At the time I thought it was that issue, based on what I had read on this forum. I traded the car in Sept 2012. Three weeks before that I had it at the dealer, mentioned the "diesel" sound, had them check the computer for any maintenance that was missed by the previous owner. They added a couple of routine things, test drove it but didn't say anything about replacing the tensioner.

Yes, this 06 is my 2nd mini but I had the 09 for only 4 months.

I could feel the difference of the two models on the test drive but I liked a lot of things I have with the 06. After 8 days of ownership, I love driving it and I believe this will be a keeper.

Change of plans since my September downsizing, so I am back to multiple cars. The only reason I traded the 09 after a short period of time, I was selling everything I owned and needed a 4x4 that could tow over extreme off road conditions.

I do notice those, the other drivers do things a little differently between the Mini and the Hummer .... they pull out in front of me more at intersections...they love to tailgate the mini...

I'll keep reading as much as I can here about the 06 model...
