Possibly ignorant question about where to buy MINI oil filters:

Can I buy it at any major auto supply store or can I only get it from a BMW or MINI dealership? I'm only asking because I need to change my oil tomorrow and won't have time to go to the MINI dealership, which is too far a drive. I ran out of filters that I bought a while ago at the MINI dealer.

Thanks!

You should buy it at the dealer if you have the time. Many mail order stores carry OEM filters as well such as germanautoparts.com

Most of the stores such as advanceauto and autozone might not carry the OEM filters but will have other brands.

Advance Auto does carry Mann filter and is the only one I would buy from an auto parts store. Mail order from IMO one of these.

many NAPA dealers stock filters too...not then OEM, and IMO, TRY to get the OEM if you can...or a good euro brand like MANN.

Spend the extra dollar and get the OEM oil filter. We've seen too many issues with aftermarket filters not fitting, leaking, not pressing down on the valve in the housing and so on. We ONLY use OEM filters in our shop.

Hope this doesn't sound snarky but there are several places to get all sorts of MINI parts to be found by exploring the "Vendor Directory" on the Main Menu column and Way is one of them

I know very well where to get them (yes, it takes a minimum of brain cells to find that out!), but I just wanted to know if I could find one in a hurry (one day) and not have to go all the way to the dealer or wait for a mail order situation. And now I know the answer.
