What does this little hose go to?

So, I was tidying up some wires today, and happened to notice my intake hose was loose! Wtf. Anyway, after pulling that off, reprainting it with high heat paint (it's an awful green color, black is better!) I foun this air Line / hose that appears to lead to a T that is connected to the BPV. My little hose, after the BPV, goes nowhere. Assuming, it was cut.

Also assuming, that this mysterious hose went to a strange filter inside my air box (also had a cut tube). Since I already pulled the filter out, I just bent the hose and zip tied it closed.

Anyone else notice or have this? I'm assuming it's for emissions? To "filter" the gas-air that comes out of the BPV, then shoot it back into the engine?

Is that a little assanigne, or is it just me?

Pix are good. Maybe 'realoem' (or whatever the site is) parts pix and indicate the hoses you are referring to

I can take pics of the filter, that's out of the car. I can maybe take one of the kinked off hose, but as to where it goes, that's a lil harder. Don't feel like ripping the car apart just for that....

FOun it buried in real OEM.com

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...70&hg=13&fg=20

Check part 16, and all the crap it's connected to. All it says is "Vaccuum tank" (reservoir). Wtf does that mean? Lol. I mean, its purpose is what exactly? Do all r53s have this, or just JCW models?

That appears to be the vacuum line to operate the solenoid for the internal flap on the JCW filter. This is the throttle activated flap that kicks open at 4500rpm. Most people disconnect them and leave it open all the time. I will assume you did not install the JCW filter kit yourself. This is the installation instructions for it.

Nice! That makes sense now.
No, didn't do it myself, it's a factory thing. I'm rockin a JCW.
Some jack hole did remove the flap before I got it. Obviously, they also cut that line too.
Good eye braminator! Thx
