Help! A-pillar OEM tweeters how to??

Hi,

I recently bought a set of A-pillar with OEM tweeters at an auction. But I have no idea how I should connect the tweeters to my system.

At the moment I have no hi-fi option, and use a boost radio.

Please advice

(Please check pictures, this is what I have at the moment, do I need something more)

From a first Gen point of view; I don't see why you cant run the wires behind the dash and splice them into the speaker wires. Hardest part is locating the correct wires.

Why don't you upgrade all your speakers while you're at it. Upgrade the door speakers to a set of components that come with their own cross overs.

If you do plan on splicing them into the stock speaker wires, make sure you pick up a high pass filter / tweeter crossover and wire them with that, or you'll nuke them fairly quick

you might wanna check the final ohm load of the speakers/tweets before you decide you want to connect them or you might kill the amplifier from running at too low of an impedance.

It is not something you want to do on the base stereo system. If not connected properly then you will just blow then up or blow the amplifier in the head unit.

It will also mess with the audio in the car if they are hooked up correctly an make if very bright or tinny .

A pillar tweeter upgrade

I was able to install factory tweeters.
I disconnected the middle speaker and cut the connector for the tweeter spliced an extension to the tweeter. I have not run the wire thru the door wire guide.
It sounds so much better. I still have six speakers running.

Hi ccook71,

A few questions I hope you can help answer, as I'm interested in what you did.

1. Were your factory tweeters the hi-fi ones?
2. You disconnected the middles speakers in the door?
3. You spliced where?

Any issues with burning out tweeters or head unit?
