Euro Style Plate for New Mexico?? YESS!!

So, what do you guys think about this plate? We have made several of them for our MINIs here and we think they look awesome, and they are "legal". There is a huge grey area in NM for license plates, and I have never once been pulled for it. It is the correct size and everything for a euro plate. I figured I would share it to see what others thought.

And, by the way, we can make other ones for other states. It is simply reflective vinyl on stainless. Of course, they are "show" plates for real, but I run mine daily. If anyone is interested, let me know!

I like it! Can you make any color? I want to put a Euro plate on my front since my new MINI has plate holes in it :(

Yep! You can PM me with your idea. As long as I can create it in Photoshop, it should be fine.

I really like the euro plates. I figured you would get pulled over right away. I have not looked at the laws but I wonder if I could get away with it in Texas.

I know folks in Texas who have done it, but they did get into trouble. Here in New Mexico, there are no written guidelines for plate design, so it's a huge grey area. I've been running mine since early October, and even drove cross country to Arkansas. Never got pulled. Local cops here ask me about mine and say it is awesome. Lol. I say it is worth the risk.

Depends on where in TX too. I could do whatever i wanted in College Station & Bryan. But in Houston, you can drive 20 minutes to eat in Sugar Land and get a ticket for something ridiculous like chrome screws or your frame obscuring any part of the word "Texas."

Amazing that you don't get pulled over for that. What about when you are travelling out-of-state?

Well, my roommate and I both have MINIs (his is an R53 JCW) with these plates. We traveled from here in Las Cruces, NM to Eureka Springs, AR for MINIs in the Ozarks. Most other states have no idea what plates other states issue, so they never think twice about it. My plate even does have a registration/expiration sticker on it from the DMV, though.

It is pretty nifty...

I wish states in general would allow this. Just like custom/vanity plates. I would pay 3 times as much for plate registration just to have a badass Euro style plate. No creativity. But here in NY we are blessed with the ugliest gold yellow standard-issue plates ever.

I have a great EURO plate on the front of my car. I am blessed with a no front plate state. I know some would not put anything up there but this car looks so good in a euro plate, and people comment all the time about how great it looks.

Yea, folks out here freak out about it. Especially the other European car guys with their Audis, Bimmers, and VWs. Most cops out here compliment me on it and also wonder why states do not issue such plates. My rear euro is EASIER to read than any standard NM issued plate....

My green one has a custom front plate for fun. I bought it from licenseplates.tv and they did it euro-style with the NY state flag. This car is mostly for spirited runs and track time. I transport it on dealer plates so there is no problem. Any other car needs the front state issued plate. You won't really get pulled over for it but if you park on the street you get the ticket every single time.

Here is what the plate looks like:

That is really awesome. I went to NMSU. When I moved back to Indiana I got an Indiana vanity plate that says "NMSU" on it, but I like yours better. Can you still get the yellow plate out there? I always liked that one best.

I just like that plate all together. I hate these fancy multicolor, crazy design, and support "this" tags. Though I did get a 5 digit "visit Florida beaches" one.

By the way: If you want actual european plates (i.e. as used in their respective country), you can get in touch with online plate printing companies in EU countries to ask whether they will ship to whereever you are. Depending on the length of your chosen plate, you may be limited in respect to some countries (e.g. Germany: max 10 letters/numbers). There are different official designs (background, font, font colour, format) but all of them show the national flag (EU countries inside a blue stripe also showing the stars from the EU flag).

Standard (i.e. actual and road legal) german plates start at about EUR 10 each plus shipping.
