Digital Speed on Chrono Package Instruments?

My newly acquired 2005 "S" has the Chrono Instrument package, which I love. Oil pressure, oil temp, coolant temp, fuel gauges.

Bu I got a little spoiled on my other mini's, both 2010 "S" and the new Countryman give digital mph as well. According to the handbook, the 2005 should as well, but for the life of me I can't figure out how. Or is it just not available with the Chrono instruments?

The other thing i love about the new Mini's is the digital speed control. That was pure genius and I can't seem to find tat on the 2205 either.

Still love the car, but we do get spoiled by some of these new little gimmicks!!

Jim

Digital speedo is not aval with the chrono pack. But since the speedo is directly infront of you....no big loss imo. On the other with the option, it is in the middle.
I have the chrono pack, love the oem fully functional guages too!!
A scanguage II is a popular add on on a gen1 for extra info.....

My '05 came with only two options: The Chrono Pack and LSD, both of which I consider the most important. The "bean counters" probably did away with the Chrono Pack...dumb, dumb, dumb!

Yeah, I love the Chrono Pack. It was the main reason I bought the car. When was the last time you saw both an oil temp and pressure gauge? And you're right, I can live without the digital speedo, although I did like it.

I'll probably add a volt meter and boost pressure.

If you want digital speed read-out, you have to go into the On-board menu. It allows you to read speed (km or miles), voltage, coolant temp and other items for diagnostic. I usually access the coolant temp to see if the radiator fans are working correctly. You access the function before starting the engine and it resets back to normal operation when ignition is off. So it's not a settable configuration. Bentley manual has the details.

The last time I had Oil Temp and Oil Pressure gauges was ing my Porsche 944S. It also had Coolant Temp and Voltage meter. The Turbo version had the Boost gauge as well. Miss those days.

As already stated, digital speed read-out isn't available for the chrono pack (or Nav).

On some cars you can set the speed to matain....and it displays that speed on the digital readout..sou you can set 71, rather than just barely touching the high side of the 70 line....
With so manu folks running nonstandard sized mini tires (myself included) i find the mph readout on my radar dector's gps to be very useful......

I have the Chrono package.

As I said, you can only access digital speed read-out ONLY via the "Instrument Cluster (IKE) Self-test". Road speed is under Sub-test 7.3... however, it's in "km/hr". I haven't learned how to switch it over to MPH.

I occasionally access Sub-test 7.0 to inspect radiator fan operation (Low / High speeds).

It's all there in the Bentley manual.
