R53 needs help please

Recently installed alta intake and 17% pulley and just before had obx headers with full exhaust done. The car threw an engine light on our way to fixx fest a couple weeks ago. The P2096 code was thrown. The car has been ideling weird and hesitating when driven. Just turned the car on to head out and heard a loud chatter, almost like a clutch chatter but wayblouder and clearer. It went away after a minute but noticed a rubber smell. Started drivinf it to see what else we could notice and it sounds almost like the pulley was slipping. When pressing on the gas you can hear it winding up then starts winding down. We just pulled into the shop my husband works at. If amyone has any help, please message me or email me at skmboardchik4lyf@gmail.com. I really appreciate it.
P.S. sorry for the incorrect grammer/spelling and whatever. Trying to type in a moving car was an epic fail.
Thanks

Rubber smell? Belt slipping would be the cheapest but given the sounds I'd say the OEM harmonic balancer decided to die at a very inconvenient time for you. I could be wrong, because mine hasn't failed...yet, so I don't know all the symptoms, however I've read quite a few of them on here.

I'm not sure what the code is about...but a quick googling made it appear to be an o2 sensor issue. Maybe related to exhaust? I'm just shooting out ideas here.

Definitely has to do with the serpentine belt drive. As mentioned above, it could be the crankshaft pulley has decided to self-destruct, perhaps the belt itself has worn out and is slipping...or the belt tensioner has decided not to do its job. Could possibly be that the 17% pulley was not installed properly or the belt installed was the wrong size or improperly routed. Requires jacking up the rt. side, removing the rt.front wheel, the wheel well liner to inspect.

check the alignment of the new sc pulley as well. When I did mine, I didn't align it correctly, it was off by a few mm and it started eating belts when driven hard, not when it was just running around town, but when you got on the throttle hard.

Did you use a smaller belt when you installed then pulley? What is the exact brand and size belt you used?

I only went to 15% and I have a Gates K060535 ( available at NAPA - well at least their brand which is gates). You might have to go to 60532. Looking at the belt tensioner how many holes can you see...should be 1 or less..more than one and approaching 2 holes is too loose.

Look at image 8. That's what people mean by 2 holes...or one hole. The second hole is used for relieving all tension on the belt...ideally you should be seeing MAX 1 hole.

Good to hear you made it to the shop and the "eppic fail" of typing on a message board in a moving car was not worse.....
Whats said above is right...belt needs to be check for tightness, and the crank pulley should be looked at.....should be a quick fix...one cheap...one not so cheap, but beats a wreck or a tow either way!!

Thank you all for all your help.
After taking stuff apart we found that it was the harmonic balancer that was done. Ordered an ATI super damper that should be here by tuesday, hopefully installed before my final on wednesday
Here are both (husband and mine) cars down for further construction. lol

Actually no holes is bad. This means the tensioner is pushing in quite far to keep tension on the belt (long belt). Having one hole is good and even one to near 2 holes is good. If you have a full two holes showing I wouldn't know how someone managed to get a belt on like that. (too tight).
