ok, i have a 12, coupe s, w/ connected, no nav...i also have iphone 4s...i noticed in settings, its says there is a software update ( bought my coupe in march). when i was getting my oil change at the dealer, i mentioned this to the service adviser...he talked to the tech, and said software updates are about a 4 hour dilio....( my word
)...a little research on here, says to do the software update, i just need to stick a usb stick in the usb port on the car...but im not sure...so can someone explain to a non techno dude, what do i need to do, in a step by step fashion? and if i need a usb thumb drive, what kind/ size, and is it something i just go to best buy and purchase? thanks in advance! dan

Hey man, it's really pretty simple. You copy the file from mini.com/connectivity to any USB stick. It has to be PC formatted which 99.9% are.. Then pop it into the USB in your car. Go back to the software update screen in your car and select the update to run. It didn't take too long on my 2012 Roadster..
@nfo -- I'm not sure if that reply was directed at me but yeah, I agree, the instructions are relatively simple. Unfortunately my MINI seems to be a bit unusual in that the version of the software I currently have doesn't match most others and the update doesn't run on my system (tried a couple different flash drives & reformatting).
