Does anyone know when the Mini Connected update is going to happen? There was a report on Motoring File that this was going to happen. Mini is supposed to remove features but improve functionality.

 

The report said it was coming mid-August. Have been checking the Apple App Store everyday since!
Hope it also comes to the R56, but I guess we'll only know when it comes!

 

It's hard to tell if MINI is late putting it out, or if Apple has been sitting on the update for weeks. Both very plausible scenarios!

Yeah I was super tempted to hit the update button, but I'm going to go home and make sure I save a copy of the old one first. Looking forward to checking it out.

 

They removed web radio! Not sure if that was a Gen 2 feature, but it's definitely one I used on My F55

They are removing a lot with this version but what's left is supposed to be better.

 

Just downloaded:

- No more web radio, Dynamic Music, Mission Control, or MINImalism Analyzer
- Much nicer looking and has tutorials on how to get it working. A much better user experience

Haven't had a chance to run it on my MINI yet, but despite losing some features (which, let's face it, besides web radio, we've only used once if that) seems to be a much cleaner app.

BTW, for those missing web radio, TuneIn radio does the same thing and is compatible with Connected.

 

I just tried to install the TuneIn radio (non Pro version) and it want $7.99 a month after a free trial.

 

The subscription removes ads (in-app and on certain stations), and adds MLB coverage, but the standard radio stations are free - same as Web Radio. I believe I read that TuneIn actually supplied the feeds to Web Radio.

 

It may function better but with what's left, what's the point of Connected? What a terrible "update".

 

For some reason, I don't see the Online Search option. Perhaps it's only available for US?

On the iPhone app itself, be sure you logged into the search function. If you can't find it on the app, then you're likely SOL unfortunately.

And F this update. Sure Mission Control, Driving Excitement, etc. was a bit silly, but so is MINI. If I wanted bog-standard features and nothing more I'd go out and by a f'ing Ford.

I'm so pissed that they removed Mission Control I'm looking at buying the old retrofit kit!!! (Which I'm not gonna, unless I can find it for well under $200...)

Do you back up your phone to your computer? If so, you may have old backups you can pull from.

Paul - I completely agree. What a crappy update. I don't have back up, so I am stuck with the current. I like mission control and driving excitement as well. These are the types of apps that makes mini so unique from other brands. I wrote an email to the mini connected team. Not sure if they even care. I'll most likely delete the app, if they don't implement the features back on.

 

This is bullcrap. I'm not updating but if the phone accidentally gets an update I am going to be pissed my car doesn't talk to me anymore. That's what made it a MINI. Don't take away my car's voice!

 

can someone who has the older version saved on their PC, can you please share with me, I hate this new update. thanks in advance...

 

The file of the App can't be shared, it's linked directly to the App Store account.
If you haven't cleared your trash, it's still in there. Just replace it with the new file.

yes! i found my older 2.8 version, i am back in business!
unfortunately, all my saved radio stations (over 500+) are gone :(

 

I think we should come up with some kind of catchy hash tag like #unmutemyMINI or something and just tag that on everything we post complaining about it on Twitter, etc. They are pretty social and do watch everything MINI.

 

If you don't like it, make sure to post your rating and review on the App Store.

 

2015 Countryman S All4 - Connected app and iPhone6 talk to each other and Spotify looks great on screen, but NO SOUND??? Any help here?

 

What cable are you using to connect? I think the Y cable is required because the sound is output through the 3.5mm portion of the cable.
