White smoke from under the hood

There were white smoke coming from under the hood on Saturday after driving on the highway for 15 minutes, it smelled like burning rubber inside the cabin. Now the fan that's supposed to come/stay on after engine shut off for the turbo won't come on. It's a May 2012 built.

It's at the dealership now. They gave us a Ford Fiesta as a loner.

Sure it is not the clutch burning? Were you in stop and go traffic when the incident occurred?

I don't think so since the smoke was coming out from infront of the engine around where the intercooler is. Isn't the clutch behind the engine?

I was on the highway, drove a block and stopped at a place for food.

If it is there and gone, some leftover cosmoline dripping onto a hot manifold?

Maybe. The dealer said it's water/rain hitting the manifold.

same thing happened to me today ('07 cooper)

drove on highway, got off and stopped at red light: white smoke pouring out from under the hood!

popped hood and saw the smoke coming from exhaust manifold which is covered. smells like burning rubber.

no other issues, any idea on the problem?

thank you.

o-ring was not in the correct groove in oil filter causing oil to leak from oil filter, drip it's way down to my exhaust, thus causing white smoke.

problem fixed!

Glad it's fixed but why would burning oil smell like burning rubber?

Coolant burns/vaporizes white. Though, if the dealer couldn't find anything then who knows what's going on.

I've had a little bit of smoke coming out of the front when raining. The turbo is in front and just produces so much heat. It's not the clutch, I've never seen a clutch produce visible smoke, and you would know, clutch smells terrrible...not like plastic or rubber.

Coolant does produce white smoke, like another poster said, the dealer would of been able to find a coolant leak pretty easy.

Honestly, I wouldn't be concerned.
