R56 Burble
they - dealers - can turn off the burble because a new build only comes with so many burbles. they are saving them for you.
if you want A LOT of burble, come make an offer on my 79 with a 1275 and a PlayMini twin DTM

It definitely has to warm up first--and it may get a little louder with time (hard for me to remember for sure), but it's definitely noticeable on my 2011. Was it an auto or a manual? I've had a loaner auto that didn't make much noise at all.
Because the gods smiled upon you.
How short of a drive are we talking here? My 2013 doesn't start popping and burbling until I've driven a couple of miles (some temperature set point perhaps?).

I have a 2013 S Coupe. I've had it a couple of weeks and it popped and burbled the moment I started driving it with 007 miles on the clock. I'll have to check to see what temperature it starts to make the noise, but it does a fantastic job of it.
Mine has popped in sport mode from day 1 as we, but only starts doing it after I've driven for a bit.--Matt
The coolant temp needs to get to 75C before the pop/burble starts - something to do with protecting the cat converter and emission controls...
I have also noted that with gentle driving - avoiding boost, and part throttle starts, there is burble and light popping... A full throttle start and shift into 2nd this afternoon, followed by an 'in gear' deceleration, had Summons fire off a few 'pops' that turned heads!
The only draw back to the pop/burble is that I have noted on deceleration in gear, while the engine is popping and burbling, the deceleration is reduced until it's done with the P/B...
A small price to pay for the smiles!

The funny thing is that on occasion that "pop" seems to happen randomly at times, not necessarily when you expect it to. Sometimes the randomness makes me turn it off in the garage. Perhaps with the manual it's better controlled?
