Radio AUX ipod cable

Just want to start a new thread on the R53 Aux radio cable.

If anyone buys one from WAYmotorworks, or one of the other vendors, ( I found one on ebay for $36 shipped), It's NOT necessary to pull apart your radio to install it.

Pull down the pannel below the steering wheel, and slide it into the back of the radio clip side up.

Took me about 45 seconds to install one today (without wiremanagement or drillling a hole, of course).

Not sure where it will get installed, probaly totally hidden in the removeable pannelbelow the toggle cluster.

In any event, don't make yourself crazy removing the radio, just go at it from the drivers side. Super easy.

Several threads on this. FWIW, you don't even really need to 'install' the receiver end, you can just have it sticking out somewhere inconspicuous. Mine came installed in the glovebox, but I don't want to have to open the glovebox to manipulate the Aux input.

3 dollars in parts can get the .22 caps and 300k resistor from digikey or local electric shop.. I can't even image paying for something so simple

It's all relative. $3 and four trips plus an hour of fiddling... - or $30. It's all about priorities.

Unless you have navigation or a cd changer...

I've been wanting to do this exact thing. Just ordered the cable from WayMotors. How do you pull the panel under the steering wheel. And where is the socket on the back of the radio located? Thanks again.

To pull down the panel, just grab the top edge and pull. Some are harder than others. The empty slot is on the bottom of the near side.
