Just confirmed that the iPhone 5 with the lightning to 30 pin adapter works flawlessly with the existing Mini Y-Cable. Track info, playlists, song info, charging and all radio and steering wheel controls work as it did with the iPhone 4/4S. iPhone even locks out in accessory mode (or whatever the hell that is called).

So if you have been on the fence about getting the 5 and worrying about not having the same functionality it totally works.

Again I don't have connected. This is for the regular HK system.

How hard was it to buy the adapter, last I checked they were shipping later this month. I'm waiting for the Chinese knock-offs.

 

I ordered my adapter two weeks ago, it currently shows as shipping between the 17th and 24th.

 

Ordered mine a few weeks ago and it came today. Direct from Apple. Didn't want to wait for knockoffs. Also a bit sketched out with knockoffs at this point because there is a chip in the lightning connectors controlling pinpoints so will wait till more people buy the knockoffs before I risk it at this point. I'm more interested in cables in general then the adapter anyway. Only needed 1 for the Mini. My other iPhone 4S stuff I already gave to my son so he can enjoy them. I figure in a few months time there will be new iHome charging clocks, speakers etc anyway.

They are way overpriced but if you only need one its not a big deal if you're looking for a bunch for multi devices I'd get 1 apple one and then wait till the knockoffs are tested in the real world for a little bit.

I have a New To Me 2006 Mini Cooper S Conv with H/K sound. Previous owner had run a iphone 30 pin cord to hook up, but it only plays with my iphone4 and iphone 5 (with adapter), but will not charge at the same time for either. It also blanks out my iphone screen (accessory connected). Any help to play & charge? I was going to get an after market radio w/usb, but the H/V amp would not work with after market radio. It shouldn't be this hard in this day & age!

 

Really?! I cannot get my Pandora to work using the Mini adapter plus Lightening Adapter or via Bluetooth. Mini Connect does work though. Just got back from my first maintenance and they said that Pandora is not working with the new Iphone 5 yet and they are supposed to be working on the app????

I'm in a MINI COOPER S 2010, with no nav screen.
My playlists and everything else on my iPhone 5 shows up empty. The playlist name shows up but the songs do not.

I can still play pandora via the iPhone and it'll play through the speakers, but I can't play any songs on the iPhone or control it. There is a workaround, I can tell SIRI to play a song for me. But that gets old.

How have you guys gotten the car to play through playlists on your iPhone 5?

I have the apple adapter.

Mine works just as it did before. No issues at all.

The only ones that do what you describe are the folders/playlists with music stored on the cloud not on the phone. All other folders where music is actually on my phone show up fine.

 

The only time it does that for me is with folders that have no music on them (like cloud folders/playlists) everything else works just like my 4S did. I use the Y-Cable and apple adapter and the 5 works just as flawless as the 4S did.

 

Oddly enough my 4S shows empty folders, yet they are all in the master list, and my 5 works flawlessly.
