R50/53 Tunning software
Piggybacks on the mini were mostly a failure....
The mini ecu is programmable....
Most folks get it done by
1 custom dyno tune at a tune party for minis from a traveling tuner...like rmw
2 remote tune on a dyno using a "tool" to upload/dowmload the tunes...usually done on a dyno...rmw and waymororworks
3 canned tunes...ship the ecu off...reflash waymotorworks
4 diy programing kits in the mini...one popped up about a year ago, but a few reports of "boom" when folks get too agressive on the r53. The tuning of the r53 is a bit of an art...and i seriouly doubt the avg even dedicated home runer can get much more than the factory or a medicore canned tune....hopefully somebody will chime in with tue softwsre name, but many things in the mini/bmw software have made selftuning much less relilabe than other makes.....

Yep - Bytetronik is what you're looking for. Waymotorworks sells it. http://www.waymotorworks.com/bytetro...uning-kit.html
It's like a sharp cutting knife: it can cut through meat and vegetables like butter, but it can also cut off your finger just as easily... So be forewarned and know your limits - tune responsibly

With that said, we offer two versions of FA: FA53 (user-tunable maps with data-logging, etc) and FA-Lite with Remote Mapping Service (rom flashing and logging device with no User access to the maps). You can read about them here:

Dimsport sells a solution, but it's a lot more than $750 for the tuner version.
The ecu maps and logics are very different than the Japanese ecu's, and that's where many import tuners get into trouble while tuning the MINIs. Just a heads up and a lot of these have been addressed on our Tech Forum:

Here are some Q&A that you might find helpful about FA:
- Is this the kit as EcuFlash and OpenPort 2.0 for the Evo/Subaru? No. While the GUI is carried over from EcuFlash (since we already own the rights of that software), the codes/sub-routines/algorithm are totally different that those used for the Evo/Subaru program. The MINIPort, while looks identical to OpenPort 2.0, has different hardware components and security chips beneath the casing.
- Can EcuFlash work with MINIPort and vise versa? No. EcuFlash will NOT work with MINIPort and FA will not work with OpenPort 2.0 devices.
