MCS R56 Carbon Cleaning

Im having a carbon buildup problem in my MCS r56.. There is a company that claims that they can clean by using their system.. Which is EPOHC carbon cleaning systerm..

Carbon cleaning uses Epoch’s Oxy-Hydrogen gas cleans away the all carbon and build-up efficiently. This is what they claim..

But im not sure if this is suitable for my mini cooper engine since its a direct injection.. But alot of supercars have done this method such as lamborgini, nissan gtr35..

this is the url http://www.oxy-hydrogen.com/en/2_156..._id246185.html

Please help me cause my engine misfires alot..

Thx from malaysia!!

Looks like a really expensive machine!

They are inducing the gas into the intake manifold so they're attacking the carbon problem from the right spot for the MINI N14 engine. I don't know of anybody that has tried this method stateside. My only concern is that it doesn't have enough time to clean the intake ports/valves but only is effective at cleaning the combustion chamber. The before/after pictures look like pictures of the piston crown. I wonder how much improvement was made to the intake port/valve area

Yes its expensive.. Here in whole malaysia there is only 1 workshop using it.. But the service cost is freakin cheap.. Per Cleaning Service is juz 50 bucks.. Usually each cleaning process runs for about 40 minutes.. Yes i also had think about the same thing.. But they can help checking it by using a boroscope after done..

Bmw quoted me 4k USD for complete carbon cleaning.. So i better go for this method. Thx for replying.. Im juz concern would it be safe to be used in direct injection engines..

It is most likely very safe. If they were pumping in a liquid that would be more dangerous.

The intake manifold PCV hose is located on the top left corner of the valve cover. If you open the hood, look straight down at the valve cover, there is a hose the clips to the top left corner with a braided black protective covering. That tube leads crankcase vapor into the intake manifold.

I'd share the concern that the aim of the service is combustion chamber de-carboning; the MINI issue is carbon/whatever build-up on the back of the intake valves. By flowing into the manifold, the servicing gas will flow past them, but cause effective cleaning? Hmmm. $50 isn't much to test it out, I suppose.

$4k USD for cleaning, ouch. Some here have posted $600-750 for a walnut shell blasting service they had done, far less of course and known to be effective.

Isit you mean that the gas wont reach the intake valve?

I thought it would clean the intake valve cause the method they use is same like the seafoam treatment.. Both is injected to the intake manifold also.. Rite?

I think he's implying that it might need more elbow grease; if not doing a walnut blast, which is the most effective. That was my concern as well. I bet it's likely to help, but not likely to get it all. Please post your results. I've seen this machine before online, but no shop around me uses one...that advertises it on the web anyhow.

From looking at that website, it looks like the "cleaning gas" may simply be water that has been broken down (by electrolysis) into hydrogen and oxygen. The hydrogen will burn and combine with the oxygen, turning back into water, and that can help clean stuff inside the combustion chamber.

That's not so useful for the deposits in the intake, which is where the MCS has problems.

You would probably get more benefit (but it's not a lot for deposits that are already bad) from misting water into the intake.

I assume the treatment is done with engine running...? Is there any risk of carbon chunks coming off and causing damage during the treatment? The pictures of a carboned up intake were scary! The potential for mm size flying pieces seemed real.
I would NOT want a chunk of anything making it into a cylinder!

Get a walnut blast from any shops that provide the service, also that machine is for internal combustion cleaning, the actual valve/guides/runners will still be filthy.
