Aftermarket rear swaybars

Hi MINIacs,

I had an aftermarket rear sway bar installed on my 05 MCS about 5 years ago. It now needs replacement bushings. At the time, it was 'THE' upgrade sway bar to use.

Can anyone give me some brands of aftermarket sway bar so that it might jolt a memory of which one I have, and therefore which replacement bushings to order?!

Thanks all, Happy Motoring.

it doesn't really matter...the bushings should be identical in shape for most brands, you just need the right size (probably 19mm diameter).

Thanks - I asked because the garage where they found that the bushings are worn told me that they didn't know where to find the correct replacements, so I figured that I would have to find out the correct brand and replacements.

Waymotorworks can source them for you. He'll probably try to sell you the very nice h-sport brackets with poly bushings that have a zerk fitting so you can grease them (though a properly installed bar with greased bushings and/or teflon tape won't need them, it's nice to have). You should measure your swaybar diameter just to be sure what you need. It's probably a 19mm.

Is a rear sway bar really a big improvement? Maybe I'm not driving it hard enough lol but I don't feel the need for an upgrade. What changes if I do go for it?

If you post a pic of it I should be able to tell you what brand it is.

As a reference, this is my HSport, it comes with new bushings with ''grease nipples' on the brackets'. Don't know if they had those 5 years ago tho.

Honestly, I can say that a rear sway bar is the equivalent on handling of what the s/c pulley is for the engine. On some entrances, I lift one of the rear wheels since it's a lot stiffer. Swaybars like HSports have 3 holes for stiffness: kind of stock, better and holy ****! Just kidding, I'm on the second hole, didn't tried the last one as I'm pretty happy with how it handle.

With the car only on the ground, I can only get a shot of the end of the swaybar, but it's fairly clear.

I guess it uploaded as a thumbnail on my post, but if you click on it, you can see it bigger.

Could it be an H-Sport?

If so, which bushings should I order?

Thanks again for the help guys.

Looks like an H-Sport to me. Probably a 19mm, so you would need the bushings for that one (unless they are the same for the 22mm version).

that is def an Hsport comp rear sway bar. Here are the bushings you need:
http://www.waymotorworks.com/swaybar-bushing-set.html

Select the 25.5mm set and you'll be good to go.
