Clear Bra Cost??

Just wanted to do a quick poll on what everyone has paid for their clear bra install. I just talked to two shops and each quoted me $700. I don't remember it being near that when I had one done on '08.

I'd hate to go without it but 700 bones sounds a bit steep.

Depends a lot on the quality of the film and the expertise of the installer.

Had my 06 Justa done by one of the best installers on the east cost, back when it wasn't so common. He was the guy who trained other installers on the eastern seaboard. He used the best 3M film and that clearbra was $1100. Looked great when I sold that MINI 4+ years later.

My better half just had a clear bra put on her new Countryman. She had it done at a tint shop. The film is also 3M but the install wasn't as good as the one I had done back in 06. That one cost about $750.

Both were full bumpers, about 18" up the bonnet, and mirror caps.

I haven't had it done for the same reason (cost) but I was quoted around $600 at a local shop that does a lot of tinting and graphics work. Don't know where you are, but $700 doesn't sound out of line.

I opted for the traditional bra from Outmotoring ($99) which doesn't really fit my 2012 MC quite right (grille shape and lower grille size must have changed after 2010). I'll probably keep it for a while but am seriously thinking about the clear bra again...

My better half didn't put on one her 06 Cooper when I had mine done. Now, 6 years later, she's having the bumper and bonnet repained and having a clear bra put on it.

Moral to that story, if you're going to keep your MINI a long time, invest in the clear bra. It really will keep your MINI looking great for years and years.

$500-800 I think is pretty standard from what I've seen.

$700 sounds about right. i paid $800 for bumper, full hood, and mirror caps. when you see the number of cuts and the time it takes to wrap just the bumper, the cost will make more sense.

CR - You are right about needing to do it early. I've had one on both of my other MINIs and it save a lot of wear on the paint.

I called the installer who did my last one and he quoted a price of $485. I like the price but I wonder if the installation isn't as good. My last one from there didn't have any issues so I may just go back to them.

The two for $700 were done with xpel, the $485 quote I think is 3M.

Yep, when I get my next MINI, it's going from the dealership straight to the tint and clear bra installer. Limit the risk as much as possible of getting a stone chip in the paint before the bra is installed.

I waited two months to have the clear bra installed on my 06 Justa (honestly never realized there was such a thing until I found this board). By then, I had two stone chips that had to be repaired before the bra was put on.

Mine cost $650, bumper, half way up hood, headlights, mirrors, door handle cup, and door edge. Xpel film. Full hood would have cost $800. I think I got a deal there is a lot of work to do this job right.

Is it really worth that cost though? Wouldn't just staying on top of chips with touch up paint be a heck of a lot cheaper? Doesn't the film break down at some point?

Not if you get a good product. And no staying on top of the chips does not work. I have to repaint my car because of damage don't by rock chips and debris. If I had a clear bra on it it would have been fine. Also the link I posted earlier he guy that I know locally that has his own Tintworld franchise offers a lifetime warranty on his product and work.
