Borked my KOMBI module -- Can I reload software fresh? How?

Alright, folks... I've got a problem over here.

I was involved in the early days of NCS Expert programming in these forums (1.5 years ago), but set NCS Expert stuff aside when I got the features toggled the way I wanted them to be. But after walnut cleaning for carbon buildup a few months ago, the dealership reprogrammed all the modules to bring them current, and about half of my custom settings got blown away.

Anywhoooo, I just borked my KOMBI module trying to put some of those settings back in.

Evidently, I had the car turned on... but didn't have the ignition turned on (one push of the on/off button instead of two), and the power timed out and shut off just after I hit the 'Execute Job' button. Now I get constant error messages about speedometer malfunction, convertible top malfunction (not a convertible, btw), trailer electrical system malfunction, etc.

I tried defaulting the KOMBI module... no change.
I tried reprogramming the KOMBI module via .MAN file... no change.
I hooked up my Bavarian Technic cable to clear the faults... no change (all faults came right back).
The faults listed in the BT tool were:
A3C0 - AHM failure, network management
9317 - EEPROM: Error coding data BMW
A554 - Alive error, telephone
A560 - ID failure display shift indicator
A562 - ID failure or alive MSA
A568 - ID failure status convertible top
A571 - [no description]
I think I need to try and reload the KOMBI module software fresh... but I only have an INPA-compatible cable. <-- Will this work with ISTA/P? Last I heard was no, but that was 1.5 years ago. Even if my cable will work with ISTA/P (downloading a vmware image of it as I write this; already have the full v46 datens), I don't know how to really use ISTA/P.

Oh, and the nearest dealership is 100 miles away, and not open until Monday. I'd really like to fix this problem here in my driveway (and right away) if at all possible.

So, I'm lighting the bat signal for all the strobeyprobey's, GTECKO's, schatzy62's, etc. out there ... please help me get my KOMBI module fixed!

Ok, think I solved it.

Got some sleep and poked around some more, and it looks like what I was seeing is the same thing Juppers was seeing with his KOMBI module over here. New DATENs, and the errors went away; looks like the power cut wasn't the root cause after all.

WHEW!!!!

Glad you got it sorted out. I was sure a daten update was going to fix you issue before I came here.

Yeah, the timing of the battery turning off was a real "oh sh-t!" moment over here. Thought for sure I had corrupted the module.

Hey, while you're here... do you know if it's possible to register a new car battery without using Progman?
I don't have Progman installed, and would rather not jump through those hoops if I don't have to, considering how old it is. On the BMW-centric forums I see some use INPA to do it... but they're loading a .PRG file that I'm not sure is relevant to the R56.

Well I haven't used anything other than DIS. Inpa should do it it if you can access the SPEG module.

I think progman would only be required for battery capacity/type change. Which modifies the VO.

Hello,
I updated my KOMBI module to v67 which is the latest one and now I get the same error that you did. I cant update my DATEN files because they are already the latest ones. I didn't try to code back to factory settings using NCS Expert. Can you please let me know what should I do and explain it to me how can I code KOMBI module back to factory setting so I can see if that fix my issue.
