Update on Scangauge II Codes

I've spoken with James at Linear Logic regarding the beta version of software to allow display of Fuel Rail Pressure, Air to Fuel Ratio, Engine Temperature, and Oil Temperature (all these work with the beta software).

Although he is still working on the other gauges (Engine Torque, Turbine Speed, Gearbox Temperature, and Spark Advance Angle, he will update your ScangaugeII with the beta version at no charge. You just have to pay for the shipping to Linear Logic. This is an excellent offer from James and he has been most helpful in developing the codes for our MINIs. He just wants to remind you that it is a beta version.

Just send him an email at xgauge@linearlogic.com and he will set you up!

Thanks for your patience!

Hi Everyone!

This is James from Linear Logic (ScanGauge's parent company) and I just wanted to stop by and confirm what SoCal MCS posted.

As he mentioned contact XGauge@Linear-Logic about getting your unit updated. This is a beta version, but it seems to working fine on MINI's thus far. You may still experience bugs, and if you do, any feedback would be greatly appreciated. One bug we've found on Non-MINI's is that vehicles with very active comm buses (typically Hybrid vehicles due to all the hybrid battery communications) will cause the ScanGauge to lock up, so just be aware.

Also, the Fuel Pressure, A/F, Engine Temperature, and Oil Temperature codes are designed for MINI's running the CAN protocol - which means only 2008+ MINI's will work with this.

Anyway, I'm going to spend the next few days coding up a firmware version that has the XGauges pre-programmed in that we know work for testing. I'll keep an eye on this topic and answer any questions anyone might have.

I have one of the Beta units for my 2012 MCS that James was nice enough to send me. Most gauges are working well, definitely better than the current "out of the box version."

Thanks again James!

We've been testing one of the units and had no problems either.

To display oil temp and fuel pressure, will we have to get the updated firmware, or is it programmable through Xgauge?

You need the upgrade...then maybe need to program it. But it sounds like James is working to have them pre-programmed to go with the upgrade.

Just send him an email at xgauge@linearlogic.com
This email address seems not to work. I was able to send a message using their contact web page http://www.scangauge.com/about/contact-us/
Hope that works.

The correct email address is XGauge@Linear-Logic.com
Amazing what difference a little hyphen makes.

Had mine updated without any issues. James reflashed it and sent it back out the same day he received it.

I actually live just a few miles from the Linear Logic office, so was able to drop by and have James update my Scangauge II. I was also having an issue with the pins on the rear RJ-45 jack (they were binding against the housing, causing them to not spring outwards and causing it to intermittently drop the connection) ... so he replaced the whole circuit board to one with the updated firmware.

Also got my Marshall oil pressure gauge installed (thanks to Jerry at Eurotechs) and everything mounted on a Cravenspeed Flexpod.

Got mine back from James but haven't gotten it back in the car yet. Might just change the location to the spot on the left of the tach on the dash panel.

That's where I have mine and the visibility is great both day and night.

Richard, did you ever get a response from James? If so, how is yours working? Did you have to reprogram?

I called yesterday and was told James does not have a direct line or voicemail. They would "take a message", but suggested emailing would be better, so that's what I did.

Perhaps several of us should call and leave messages for James.........

E-mail is the best way to get in touch with me (XGauge@Linear-Logic.com). For the past few weeks nearly all of my time was consumed by a separate project, but I've been going through my E-mails that piled up and I've been responding to all the MINI Beta requests I can find. If you have E-mailed me in the past, but haven't received a response yet - try again or PM me here and I'll get back to you.

Again, sorry to anyone I hadn't responded back to yet. I must have missed them somehow or they didn't get through, but please send me another E-mail/PM. The more beta testers we have the better.

James you updated the software in mine back in March.

Is this a newer program than that ?

Thanks!
