For some reason it won't cooperate with the engine on/running.

Now it works

You were right!
I thought that pushing the key in its place meant "key on /engine off "...
You have to push the Start/Stop button without trying to start the engine to make the ECU communicating with the Scangauge to clear DTC codes.
Scangauge II is gonna be a great tool.

I got my refresched ScanGauge II back from James, and now have Engine Oil Temp(EOT).
I have a 12/2006 Build 2007 MCS. Running CANSF Code.
Now that I have Boost, EOT, WT, VLT, IAT: all the other data is interesting to toggle thru.

When I first start up from Cold, all 3 Temps are perfectly aligned. You can follow progression as they seperate shortly. I can watch Oil Temp climb and retreat under appropriate application of Turbo.

Is there a code for Oil Pressure?

ScanGauge Beta Upgrade

I mentioned in an earlier post that my water temperature and engine temperature were reading approximately 20F lower than before the upgrade. I was also getting a cold temperature for engine oil lower than the coldest ambient temperature. I just had the water temperature switch replaced due to a recall and all the temperatures are back to normal (220F max). My cold temperatures for water and engine are now within 2F of the ambient temperature after a shutdown of over 12 hours.

I guess I will have to pick one of these up again! Several years ago, I had one in my Honda and loved it. Now with this custom MINI codes this is great!

Kuda makes an alternative mount that is half the price of the Craven Speed one.

sorry if I missed something
but I thought the EOT only works for 08+ R56s?
what code are you using for the EOT?

It's looking like 07' MINI's run the communication protocol (CAN) that's needed to work with the beta MINI firmware codes. I originally only stated 2008+ MINI's would be able to use this beta firmware because I knew in 2008 all vehicles were required to run the CAN protocol. I also knew 2006 MINI's ran the ISO protocol, and I had conflicting reports about 2007 MINI's. However it's looking like 2007 MINI's are solidly using CAN, so if you have an 07' and are interested feel free to get in touch with me for an free beta upgrade.

Sorry for any confusion this may have caused. Just wanted to play it safe and avoid getting people's hopes up.

James,

My Bentley manual indicates the N16 and N18 (2011 and later) engines have an oil pressure sensor. Are you planning on adding an X-gauge for oil pressure?

Just curious, is HP accurate or off by a little? Mine tells me at full throttle I get 197 HP.

HP is an estimate, based on estimates of estimates. They can't directly measure it, so they have to calculate it based on some parameters they can read off the bus. Probably fuel consumption, throttle, and possibly time versus MPH or some such. It may be close, or it may be off. It ought to be able to tell you if a change makes things better or worse, but don't rely on it for absolute numbers.

All the ScangaugeII's we sell are preprogrammed with engine oil temp, A/F ratio.

Actually, with the overboost this is probably pretty close to being right. Can you tell if it drop down after a while when the overboost cuts out?

For Fuel Pressure, A/F, Engine Temperature, and Oil Temperature, what should be the normal operating ranges of each in my '09 Clubman S?

Also, what's the difference between Engine Temperature and Water Temperature?

Cheers.

FP- I get nothing on my 2013 :(
Water temp 175 ~195 sport mode - 200~224 degF non sport mode
Oil temps, generally 20 degF higher than Water temp (this has been typical with every car I ever owned).. Slightly higher on the highway.. I let it get within 20 deg F of water temp before shutting down the car.

A/F varies all over the place, frankly it's too slow to be useful..

I look at Volts and Instant Fuel Econ.. In conjunction with Deg F W and oil.

No discernible change between Engine Temp and Water Temp.

Why/How do people get lower water temps in Sport mode? Mine always seems to run right at 225 deg F, no matter what.

EOT whilst I was out tonight was right around 235-240 deg F.

I put ENG and FWT up and they reported either the same temps, or ENG was 1-2 degrees lower for some reason.

FP is also blank for me on my 2009.

Why do people look at Volts? I think mine was 13.x. But what are you looking for there? Are you just keeping an eye out for changes to indicate battery problems or something??

The lower temps with sport mode is a 2013 + model year item.

I look at volts just to keep an eye on the charging system. I've always had volt meters in a car.. I guess it's the geek in me.

My emails to James (XGauge@linearlogic.com ) have all been returned undeliverable, does anyone know the deal with this? I would be very disappointed if now that I have spent $150 for a Scangauge I can not get it updated for full functionality with my Mini Cooper.
