Check this real quick:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...#ht_6787wt_932

I want some sort of spoiler add on, or mod, or something for my cooper, but I feel like its hard to find something that won't make the car look "ricer-y". Lol

Anyone have any suggestion, that WON'T break my wallet!? ( like $100 or less )

Anyone out there doing anything DIY?!?

so, out of almost 40 people, only ONE guy has something to say? and only a single Word at that!

heck, even if everyone just gave one word, id have a better consensus!

Looks like it belongs on a Honda. I wouldn't put it on.

Well it appears that its going to be way too big. The wing is 49 inches wide. The top of a Mini is about 43 inches wide, so the wing will hang off either edge by 3 inches. I would also be concerned about how its going to be mounted. It appears that the "legs" of the wing have two holes on either side. That means that this wing is being held in place rather precariously. At speed the force on that wing is very likely to pull the screws out unless you have some plan to strengthen the mounting points on the body.

Overall, I think it would likely be a disappointment to you in terms of looks and it will likely detract from the overall performance of the car and perhaps even ruin its gas mileage (my OEM rack knocks 3-5 mpg). You would also find that the extra width would preclude the use of any sort of automatic car wash.

Simply put, I would advise against this particular wing. Wander through some of OrangeCrush's posting here and take a look at the wing on Oscar. Shoot for something similar in size and quality.

My opinion only, of course.

Nope, don't like it. Too big and too rice. You might want to check out parts yards that will search for a Mini spoiler. Just my .02-------

Since I have a GP with a spoiler/wing, I like the look if done right. However, I do not think the one in the post would look good tacked on top of the Mini roof.

Do you like the dual plane wings? It looks to me for $50 you could mod to fit. Take end plates off and change shape , then cut center section to rt length.
Might take some work but I think for $50 bucks and some imagination you could have a very unique wing. IMHO.. u know..maybe.. maybe not ..lol

First of all, who give's a rat's patootee what anyone else thinks? it's your car, do what YOU like.

That said, i've seen a few spoilers of this general style on MINIs and if done right they look fine to me.....but who cares what I think either?

Agreed!

But since you asked, here's my opinion on that "wing" like object:

I agree that the decision is yours, no matter what anyone else thinks, but I also think most of us were just responding to the questions asked. The idea of re-engineering the first spoiler has merit if you have the skills. The second spoiler listed in post #11 looks to be better built in the pictures, and I think it may well look better on the car. but $48.00 shipping from California makes the final cost almost a hundered bucks. Kinda steep I think.

Again, just my opinion in response to your questions.

The look of the spoiler on a Mini can be very good. I think that Oscar sets the benchmark though.

Let us know what you do, you've got some people intrigued here.

lol. you guys are great! hehe.

i love forums, just for these reasons: some people say Nay! and give technical reasons. others say Ya! and say screw everyone else!

I do like the GP spoiler look, but, i feel its "been done before" (plus the cost a fortune). There is a blue mini, with a similar style wing. it doesnt look like anything ive seen before, and it has a similar style to the one i posted originally (when i get home, i will throw a pic of the car up to show you what i mean).

I already have a stock spoiler on the car, so this isnt exactly just Tacking it to my roof... of course ill have to mod it to make it fit proper, ect ect. i was just hoping that everyone would use their Imagination to do that part in their heads like me, and tell me if its possible to make it look decent. (Thanks MINIdave! i was hoping someone would be on my side

i think it might be neat if it hung out over the sides some, but hard to say. ill have to do like ChaunceyG "suggested" and make one out of cardboard first for a mock up.

If you do a search, I have made 2-3 spoilers for my mini. I took pics as I went and you can see how it was done. There are several threads about it.

It may give you some ideas.

well. Obviously you have a ton of talent kudos on all your work! (what did you end up doing with the 2 or 3 other versions you ditched?! maybe, available for sale?...hmmm?! lol).

thanks so much btw, for sending me those links. searching in NAM is not the easiest thing to do, IMO...

I think, with proper modding and alignment, this cheapy ebay spoiler Could look sweet. The other kind of spoiler i like is the Celica GTS spoiler (2000 and up). It is the same style as the one you built. another reason i picked this particular spoiler is because it is so CHEAP, that if i dont like it, or it breaks, or i mess it up, ect ect, im not out hundreds of $$$ that could have gone towards many other useable and worthy mods.

if anyone else finds a "cheapy" spoiler, perhaps on ebay, that you think Would look decent, by all means, throw up a link! Just like Mtnmotor! (sorry guy, dont really care for the duel wing style, but very much appreciate the effort! thats what im talkin bout! lol)

Might look cool once mounted. How much it over hangs will be a big factor on that. Not that far off from the JCW spoiler..

Get it and mount it on top of your windshield or use it a front bumper lip
