Does anyone here change the long antenna that is on their MC or MCS to a shorter one or something else? Because I personally don't like the long antenna, does anyone have suggestions about this issue?

any help would be appreciated

Thank You

Here's a thought: just take it off. I have to remove the antenna to put on the car cover and I often forget to put it back on. I haven't noticed ANY difference in radio reception either way.

There are a lot of options available if you want a shorter antenna mast. Mini antenna masts have the same thread as VW, so any aftermarket antenna that works for VWs will work for Mini. I personally have the lastest generation aluminum antenna from ABD Racing. They have one on their Monster Mini show car that you can see (well, barely, it's very short)--www.monstermini.com. I couldn't find the antenna on their website, so I ordered it by phone (call ABD Racing). They told me they had several generations of aluminum "stubby" antennas. The latest is the shortest (the one I have) runs $30 if I remember correctly. It is about 4" long, fully aluminum, looks like a slender Christmas tree with a small round bulb on top. Older generation ones were longer and had plastic in the middle with an aluminum base and cap (you've probably seen these on assorted VWs). Sorry, don't have close up pictures to show.

I have a shorter mast on my VW GTI that would work too. It's a Honda S2000 antenna mast (runs about $20) and is black plastic, about 6" long.

Man, this counter-intuitive logic is it! Imagine, SHORT is so much cooler that TALL! LITTLE is cooler than BIG! It's a movement...

I got my Audi TT style antenna at Momentum Motor It uses the same factory base, you just thread out the old mast and thread in the new one. Reception was not affected.

$34.95 CDN shipped (So ~$23 USD)

I called my local Audi dealer, and they said the price for the short TT antenna mast is $41.

The audi TT antenna will need to be rethreaded. What momentum sold (not sure what the deal is - I have no inside scoop on why their site is messed up) was an Audi TT replica antenna which was threaded correctly.

i ordered one from minimania.com - hasn't arrived just yet, but neither has my mini - and they claim reception is "the same, if not better" than stock.

it's similar to the tt antenna posted above.

edit: oh, and price was $22.95
