2011 Look alike interior

Hello everyone just thought I'd share my mod. I recently purchased all JCW red stitching parts, E- brake gaiter, shift ****, steering wheel. It all looks nice except I couldn't get over the fluid silver steering wheel trim so I painted it flat black like the 2011's It looks so much nicer now and it really dose look more high quality, I see why they decide to black everything out. I tried to paint the ring on the airbag module glossy black but the glossy didn't stick or come out well so I did flat black and it stuck and turned out great. at first I thought that the ring around the airbag module was glued and had to be broken but like the rest of the trim it can be popped out and popped back in. pics below, feel free to comment!

I agree, I like the black way more over the silver trim... Good work!

Looks really nice! Do all the trim pieces on the steering wheel just pop out, or did you have to remove the airbag to get to the side pieces?

I like what you did there but the only thing that sucks is that you still have all those other silver rings in your car. Maybe your next step is a full black-out with a few touches of red to go along with the JCW wheel. My buddy just got a 12 Coupe and it looks really slick with all the gloss black details. I like it a lot but I'd prefer to keep mine silver because of the harder contrast. Ideally I would love if they were paint-matched. I should have done it but I'd probably cry if I scratched any of it lol. Good work so far!

Looks like you havn't put the ring around the center of the steering wheel back in yet....I really like the look of all the black that you did, but I think leaving the center ring silver might tie the steering wheel in nicely with the rest of the silver on your dash

Nice work though!

Edit: Just actually read the OP explanation about the ring around the airbag module. OOPS

Yes and no, you have to remove the airbag module to pop out the trim pieces and the two side ones are screwed in the back so you have to remove the screws. It is acutely really easy to do.

Yeah, although the silver rings don't really bother me, I acutely kind of like them, It would be nice to have all the buttons on the center stack to be black out but, It really doesn't bother me though. I just really couldn't stand having silver/black/red steering wheel. I like your idea on putting more red in there, I'm trying to come up with some ideas. Thanks for your comment!

haha I acutely agree with you, I wish I would have kept the silver ring silver but it's sadly too late, and the only way to get a replacement one is to order the whole air bag module oh well still looks good IMO

Hey - can you explain the process of swapping your original wheel w the JCW red-stitched one? I love that red stitching...

Get the alcantara/leather wheel. It's much nicer.

When I got mine I also got the 2011 multifunction controls and the JCW carbon center trim.

anybody know of a way to have a red-stitched wheel, preserving paddle shifters for autos?
